RIP Sir Roy Goode. V sad news. At an SLS Sir Roy and Sir Phillip Bailhache were both in the audience for my Jersey bankruptcy paper. Sir Roy had drafted the relevant law. The nerves! Super kind questions. At Liverpool we use his "Is the law too favourable to secured creditors?" paper every year..1/2

Oh no. Roy Goode has died. An amazing man. Easily the most important commercial lawyer of the last century. He was an autodidact, teaching himself how things worked and then explaining it on to others from scratch, which was how he pushed things forward.
