Saw episodes 1 and 2 of #Carrie at #FantasticFest, and rather than focusing on "she should not be pretty" it looks like Flanagan is doubling down on making her sympathetic, which is a great play.

The Glorious Dead put me in mind of Handling The Undead and that's some high fuckin' praise, since the latter is one of the better takes on the zombie that I've ever seen, and introduced me to Renate Reinsve to boot.

Just finished GOOD BOY — I have a slow newsfeed[1] — and dang, that's a fun and touching read; I'm just not sure I've read anything quite like it, with the real story being so adjacent to the action.

Saw EVIL DEAD BURN and it was _just_ what I needed: squirmy and goopy and nasty, as a family that is barely keeping it together finally pulls the plug and gets everything out into the open. Special mention for Erroll Shand just sitting there oozing "daddy's had a hard day" for 20 minutes straight.

It's been a hot minute since the discussion on a film has been as spoilery as that for EVIL DEAD BURN, mostly around it being "mean", which is a shame, because I've been jonesing pretty hard for something upsetting and mean to watch.

Sixteen years ago today, I was cruising Orlando Craigslist, and somebody had tried to post a "Horned Up!!!" ad, but they made a typo and it came out "Gorned Up!!!" Theirs went away quickly, but I replaced it with one of my own
It's an image of a 2010 Craigslist ad with headline Gorned Up! - 424 (Cestus III). The ad text is GRARRRRRARRARRR! ! GRRRRARRARRRRRRRR! ! ! GRARRRARRARRARRRRR! ! !

Location: Cestus III

And then there are three photos: a distant shot of the Gorn from the original Star Trek episode Arena, a reptilian humanoid with a mutlicolored tunic, sparkly eyes, and sharp teeth; the next pic is a closeup of the gorn head, more sparkly eyes and sharp teeth; the last is a picture of the Gorn and Captain Kirk embracing

happy 10th birthday to The Nice Guys, one of the best movies ever made
screenshot from The Nice Guys: 4 characters looking down at Amelia (offscreen), with Ryan Gosling's Holland March (in blue blazer with cream & yellow shirt, gold/bronze tie) and Russell Crowe's Jackson Healy (in blue shirt and blue leather jacket) on either side of the frame, closer to the camera. behind & between them, at the edge of the bed: Daisy Tahan's Jessica (in floral shirt) & Angourie Rice's Holly (in overalls)Healy and March at the auto show on either side of the frame, hiding behind an orange structure with lights & a giant circle/hole cutout in the center showcasing a blue Avanti II (seen from behind). beyond the circle we can see buildings and various cars on fire (a Chevy Corvette, a Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado) closeup on Holland's hand, which reads "You will never be happy" with a little happy face a woman dressed in gold/orange tending bar at a party, a giant aquarium behind her, Holland swimming through the water in an undershirt in boxers, attempting to question the mermaids
