Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I'm asking this in good faith, as a history major/teacher, many college "history" reqs can be satisfied with very niche topics (film history, ancient Rome, etc) would you suggest that broad surveys of the modern world be the only acceptable courses for non history majors "Gen ed. requirements" ? 101
Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I very well could have heard it at a store, but it's got *such* a generic "Top 40 Country" sound that I genuinely wouldn't have been able to pick it out. And I like plenty of country music old and new. 000
Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I hadn't heard this song until I saw the headlines about its record breaking. But what I really feel is worth mentioning is that I very possibly could have heard it at a store, it's just got *such* a generic "Top 40 Country" sound that I genuinely can't tell it apart. And I like lots of country! 010

Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 21/09/2026There was a companion nyt article that was a brief interview with the author and she apparently reviewed with her daughter extensively about how much the daughter wanted to include (photos, specific academic failures, etc.) 130

Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I think I remember reading exactly what you're talking about over a decade ago, and with Indy as my favorite movie(s) it was such a treat. Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 20/08/2026A bit off the main point, but as a high school teacher I feel it's in fact a fairly common observation people make when discussing my low salary. Hell, to some extent I can even agree that the two 1/2 months I have off probably should mean I earn a bit less (even if I should be paid more generally). 000

Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 08/08/2026This has been my own thought on this idea as well. It's just a dead end product and I think you're drinking a bit too much out of the well of pessimism if you are dooming over this becoming the norm. I can't guess with confidence what will happen to console gaming, but streaming ain't it. 010

Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Obviously a disagreement in that case. With a few exceptions I can always point to one particular quality of each of his films that I think stands out as exceptional, and nothing is coming to mind with this. It's funny writing my own thoughts out, because I still enjoyed the movie a bunch 000
Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 18/07/2026I just saw it myself and I keep trying to put into words why I thought it was great, but not anywhere close to Nolan's best. I don't think any of the performances blew me away. Anne Hathaway probably pulled her weight the most given her screen time. Idk I just can't find why this didn't wow me. 100
Dr. Njck @drnjck.bsky.social · 18/07/2026The Odyssey was great. 4 Stars, but it's not in the conversation for Nolan's best. I prefer the book 😏 000
