Yes he was a street dog - he turns his nose up at nearly everything… we were told off in the street for only feeding one dog as Nicki is quite chonky and Arry is a bag of bones. *NewsFlash he really loves plain pasta (I dropped some on the floor last night) 🍝

We have given him a parasite treatment but will give him an extra worm treatment tomorrow. I wondered about his teeth but he just nicked a Swedish crispbread tonight and really enjoyed cronching it. So perhaps he’s just very fussy 🤞

Harry followed me to the local shops today and walked to heel like an obedience champion. He’s not really eating and is very skinny … the vet thought he was ok but I’m getting worried. He only accepts sardines, hotdogs and peanut butter … #DogAdvice please 🙏

I’ve had to soak and scrub my whole bag after I tripped over in the dust on Friday. No one laughed until someone asked for my medical opinion whilst my clothes were filthy and my face was covered in black dust (I’ve had to wash them twice now)

We have to clip the dog nails here as everything is covered in dust/sand there are no hard surfaces to wear the nails down. Nicki is very tolerant of nail cutting but we are trying to gain Ari’s trust before we trim him (he is definitely interested in being bribed with peanut butter …)

I don’t think so - they were in a cage with some ornamental rabbits so they looked like pets not food. The rabbits were still there today but the 3 piggies had gone. If we make a new coop for the Swedish chickens we could buy them guinea pigs as companions…

Congolese chickens are very pecky and draw blood a lot. Eggs are very expensive here but the chickens are so fierce no one will break in and steal them!

On the plus side I seem to be quite hardy … my injuries heal well unlike my housemates who are falling prey to everything. Yesterday I tripped over the puppy in the street and fell into a pile of dust. Ari jumped on me and the other shoppers thought I was being attacked🤣

I saw some guinea pigs in the market on Friday when I was buying chicken food - I tried to take a picture of them today for you but they had gone. I don’t know the French for guinea pig and I was clearly so wrong I nearly ended up with a huge, very angry looking turkey instead 🦃🦃🦃

The chickens are in 2 separate teams at the moment … we have some big and rather violent Congolese chickens who attack me when I try to collect eggs. There are some tiny, delicate Swedish chickens who get terribly bullied and who get tangled in my hair whilst trying to hide from the big hens 🐥

He is very gentle though and he was playing with a little boy who hangs around in the garden … I gave them a frisbee but no one understood it so I’ve been chasing a frisbee whilst a boy and a puppy watched me! 🥵

I love the way they say it - his name sounds like ‘hurricane’ but without the ‘h’. Hardly anyone understands I am English here until now - lots of people think I’m Chinese and one man asked me if I was from Bangladesh. Now im walking with Arry people are beginning to grasp why my French is so bad

Did my #GetTheFckOutside and used a day off work to visit the most famous tourist attraction in Brazzaville … St Anne’s Basillica. Is is just me or does the architecture give off a rather gynaecological vibe. 😳 but it was lovely cool and quiet in the heart of the city.
