A new research paper from the Upstream Lab finds that collecting and using data to address patients’ social needs – such as income, education, housing, and food security – may be associated with reduced healthcare costs and decreased health service use: upstreamlab.org/publication/... #SDOH

In this interview, we get beyond the unfounded associations and dig into the impacts on autistic people and their families, and also what a better world might look like. It was therapeutic for me and I hope it is for you too.

Prime example of "things that should be built, run, & maintained by the gov't as a public service". Private, profit-driven companies shouldn't be given access to our health data. Also, MyChart is now using genAI (& errors w/ it have already been flagged) so beware. www.ctvnews.ca/health/artic...

The other change in recommendations is to give a vaccine rather than check titres - this fits with the new evidence that titres are not reliable. From 2020: academic.oup.com/jid/article/...
Many Canadians are being offered a titre check for measles rather than getting another vaccine if they've only had one, despite 'scant' evidence supporting this.
Get another vaccine.
From a 2020 review of the literature on titre levels and immunity:
academic.oup.com/jid/article/.
Conclusions
Our findings underscore the scant data upon which the commonly used 120 mIU/mL measles threshold of protection is based, suggesting that further work is required to characterize the measles immunity threshold.

Better late than never. We’ve asked why we are still doing routine measles immunizations when we’re in an outbreak. Now, the guidance appears to have changed (though the date thing is confusing) 2nd doses for those who have only had one measles vaccine. Routine: Outbreak:
Routine:

Adults of any age who have had only one dose of MMR may receive a second dose if they are:
• Health care workers
• Post-secondary students
OR based on a health care provider's clinical judgement vaccine as soon as possible**
A second dose of MMR is recommended for all adults born in or after 1970 (for those who have not previously received 2
doses of MMR)

The waitlist for public psychiatry in rural areas of NSW can be 2 years. It's a great start for GPS to be involved in ADHD, however it's not a solution for overworked, underfunded GPs. Australia's health system, particularly mental health, not billionaires + fossil fuels, is what needs funding.

So, I'm from a place where a lot of shady shit happened for a super long time where the fiscal and financial power of government was used to facilitate frauds and crimes. The thing about the people who pitch big private projects to government is, they are there for one reason: they can't get a loan.
