Man, I don't even like MK11 Aftermath but props to it for making Shang Tsung a fun villain again. Dude was a jobber for the longest time, which just feels wrong for the original final boss, but he works much better as a cunning puppet master. Good stuff... sorta.

I feel like Goro's mostly carried by his design and how hard he is to fight than anything else. To be fair, it's an amazing design. Simple and effective. But as a character? Well, he's an archetypical shokan and I've always felt like the shokan deserved better writing than what they got. lol

Specifically talking about Hanzo Hasashi, no disrespect to Kuai Liang... although I'm almost glad Kuai ended up being Scorpion in the New Era. The "avenging my clan and family" well has long since dried up. It was okay to start, don't get me wrong, but it's the one status quo in MK and it's tired.

Raiden's a... very uneven character. He gets a lot of shit (especially in 9) for some bad decisions that lead to bad things happening to the heroes and while I don't feel like ALL of it is earned... yyyeah, he should have stayed an Elder God. At least then his uselessness would be expected. lol

Hot take, maybe? I really only like Kano in one game. He always looked cool but 11's the first time I actually enjoyed his "crude thug who fights dirty" shtick. If it weren't for the cool eye and some admittedly sick fatalities, I would have thought he was too boring to care about.

Wait, Johnny Cage is the first one listed on 1992's wiki? Weird. Anyway, what a lovable asshole. Even when he's at his worse, he's almost always entertaining at least, but MK9-11 in particular are what really made me a fan of his. For all its flaws, the NRS era absolutely nailed his character arc.
