⚠️ Rideshare service denial (again) ⚠️ It's dangerously cold, so I scheduled a rideshare instead of walking home. Made a note in my reservation that I have a service animal. Waited 20 minutes. Driver would not let me in b/c of my dog and became hostile. Walked home. Not OK. #Disability #ADA

A new job. Biggest take away though. 1 in 5 adults have a disability. We are just as valuable as employees as anyone else. Often the reasonable adjustments we need help the rest of the workforce as well.

I have to share this because it's unusual. I had a positive (?!) experience with ridesharing yesterday. The driver did not deny me service and was friendly. (He did pet Gia, so not perfect). Is this how most people experience ridesharing? Without hostility and discrimination? #DisabilitySky

It's been a long time since I even bothered filing with the DOJ. They saw merit in my complaintes but didn't prioritize them enough to take the case. I've had slightly more success at the state level (NY). Also they have just frozen the DOJ Civil Rights Divisions activities.

My kids have been vocal about their annoyance towards audio descriptions. So I felt very vindicated when my daughter said “These are actually helpful and you can do other things while you are watching.” Yes, honey. It’s called Universal design. What’s good for asmall group is often good for all.
