Parallels with Putin's 2022 war and Trump's strategic defeat in Iran tempting. And I would agree avec 1 caveat. Putin sees post-1949 European security order, US global position demolished - the real goals of 2022 war, Ukraine as means. Pyrrhic victory? Nihilism? Accidental? Maybe.But achieved.

FBI arrested Zarubina in late Nov. 2025. She served as a spotter for FSB to identify journalists, academics and military personnel for follow up contact. A role similar to that famous Russian Maria Butina played previously. DC based CSIS think tank said to have listed her as a Fellow, etc.

When I was in Moscow during Soviet collapse and Fall, Russian ‘patriots’ raged against Soviet Union in this exact phraseology. Russia made Baltics and Ukraine rich w subsidies. “Russian money for Russians”etc. And same xenophobia against migrants. Many of those today rage against Soviet collapse.

As one who has been involved in operational Movement politics from CA, Kansas City to Mass and Capitol Hill, including w Newt early 1995 at 1:30 AM after his cable show, and evangelicals nationwide and witnessed the obvious racial authoritarian impulse and called them on it at the time.

Agree in part. My first WH meeting was with David Gergen in Reagan I. Difficult to imagine more regressive Admin pre 2017, 2025. Leftist purity tests via Chomsky and Sanders will not work on a national level for progressive future. Operational politics ≠ online abstraction.
