I'd be interested in comparing notes sometime. The questions men ask a male gynecologist in their car are not encouraging.

I have a fond memory from college of taking a taxi to PP with a partner for her to get her (just released!) HPV vaccine, and the driver saying "ah, your parents will pay for this, but not for the baby!" We were too young and awkward to clarify, just laughed and moved on.

As abortion bans continue to push patients into longer travel times, higher costs, and more delays, the need for abortion later in pregnancy will only continue to rise. People don't just stop needing abortions when politicians decide to cut off access.

Between 2015 and 2025, at least 15 children in an Idaho faith-healing sect died of treatable conditions. State law allows that to happen: Parents who say their faith prohibits giving their children lifesaving medical care can’t be prosecuted.

Idaho Law Protects Faith Healers. It Wasn’t Always That Way.
From at least the 1880s through the early 1970s, it was illegal for parents in Idaho to choose prayer over medical care when a child’s life was at stake.

I've had a lucky life and I've been to a lot of festivals around the world. I've thought about what it means to people to have pride of place and community and an annual event to put on, and how it was something my rootless self didn't have. Then I realized I did and it was RHPS.

Sunlight was my first class 4 ascent. Of the seven of us at the summit, only two of us did the leap of faith to get to the very top.
A pile of massive boulders; two people sit like ants on the top. One, @Dr.Landgren, in his helmet, is descending with trepidation. This is the "leap of faith" section at the top of Sunlight Peak. Beyond it is a 3,000 foot drop, then distant mountains.

Jake from Florida was the other interesting abortion conversation. He identified as pro-choice, but said, "of course there should be guardrails." I hate the word guardrails here. I know voters like the idea, but to me it makes it sound like pregnant people are out-of-control cars.

My friends for North Eolus were pro-choice. We talked about sci-fi and fantasy, shared snacks (they had tinned mussels! on the mountain!), then went for a swim in the lake. I don't like any of the summit pictures, so here's a lake picture with them edited out.

Mt. Eolus was my favorite of these four 14ers. Here's a picture from the top, with North Eolus in the background, I think. My friends for this summit were pro-choice; we talked about teaching loved ones how to ski.
@Dr.Landgren standing on top of Mt. Eolus. The shot is angled to make him look like he is standing on a precarious precipice, and maybe he is. There are beautiful peaks as far as can be seen. He is wearing a helmet and backpack, and standing casually with his hands in his pockets.
