Ridiculous phrasing here. As if tariffs and the war in Iran are somehow good things that the rest of the world is just whining about??

In places with lots of balconies I think it's pretty common to have low folding racks on the balcony you won't necessarily see from the street.

Sure that's a common thing to have across Europe, but apartment buildings with laundry hanging outside are common pretty much everywhere, weather allowing, and something you never see in the US. Moldova doesn't seem to be an exception, these buildings I found at random have clotheslines built-in.

What really jumped out to me from the NYC DOT report this stat came from is how fast the risk ramps up—at 30 speed camera tickets/year the risk is *50 times* the average. The government knows which drivers are extremely disproportionately dangerous, they just getting them off the road.

Elimination of small undergraduate degree programs. If an undergraduate degree program confers an average of fewer than five degrees annually over a three-year period, it must be eliminated. The first year of a program is not counted in the three-year averages.

Yeah per the city's data at 16 camera violations per year the risk of a fatal or severe injury crash doubles, at 30/year it's *50x* as likely! There is absolutely no reason these people should still be driving, full stop. The city is negligent. (pdf) www.nyc.gov/html/dot/dow...

As a way of visualizing this, a drop of 80k/entries a day is basically like we're stopping a single direction of one of the busiest highways in the city (e.g. the BQE/LIE/CBE) worth of traffic from entering central Manhattan every day.

I will never not laugh at this part of his candid post-mayoral NY Mag interview. > they’re like, “Here’s a groundhog,” I’m like, “What the fuck?” nymag.com/intelligence...
On a lighter but more tragic note, do you have any regrets about dropping the groundhog in 2014?
Yeah. 100 percent. I’m like, “Don’t make me hold a fucking groundhog.” I mean, what the hell? Let me tell you exactly what happened.

Please.
I go there and it’s seven in the morning, which means my motor skills are not at their best. I put on these gloves, and they’re like, “Here’s a groundhog,” I’m like, “What the fuck?” I’m like, “Don’t you have a little more coaching to go with this or whatever?” It was idiocy. Why would you want an elected official to hold a groundhog? I don’t know anything about holding groundhogs. So the whole thing is just insane. There’s an original sin here. Don’t hand someone a groundhog, right?

I'm not talking suburban subdivisions, I'm talking actually walkable, connected areas with transit. I think any regular city bus rider would disagree that this is a fantasy. This has been studied—this article has a great chart showing the effect. findingspress.org/article/9140...
