Over the past month, I’ve been working on a grant application for the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) and employees say Musk and Trump are about to defund institute. I’m pissed, but more than anything I just hope we can effectively fight back against all of the tyranny.

Exactly this. It's really gross to see people arguing that their research will be "unfairly" flagged/catch strays. It sets a scary precedent where people start pointing fingers and suggesting that "those people" are the problem, but not them. Quite chilling.

Some people’s research will be flagged and then will move on with clarification. Other people’s research will be flagged and… it’s done. The differences in who those people are will not be random.

As I’ve said before, Haley & Scott are in the unenviable position of running in a party in which their acceptance requires that they assuage whiteness at every turn. And assuaging whiteness today—as it has in the past—means not mentioning slavery when one is asked about the cause of the Civil War.
