More underwater footage from Terrigal on Darkinjung Country, NSW Central Coast. Although the water is only just starting to warm up, there is so much new life out there - including mating sharks and stacks of fish recruitment. Hope you enjoy it! youtu.be/QK0h6Jm0zyM

Another video from Terrigal, on the New South Wales Central Coast. There's a lot happening, including a bully blue grouper, fish getting parasites and things cleaned off them, other fish feeding along the sand, and plenty of threatened grey nurse sharks. I hope you enjoy it! youtu.be/B57fmDIpBRQ

What a difference a bit of rain (pula) makes: 2024 was a very dry year across southern Africa, and northern Botswana was no exception. The Thamalakane River where I take student groups was almost bone-dry, even after the small mid-year flood. (1/2)

Visitors to #Botswana always want to see lions, leopards, or other large iconic wildlife. But, the cutest, most serendipitous, and (for me) a new species sighting from last year was an acacia rat, Thallomys paedulcus. Spotted by an eagle-eyed student peering out from a tree hollow at Xakanaxa.
