Overall I really enjoyed the show. Wish there weren't the references to H*rry P*tter but there's only two. So I can ignore it enough. Great show, can't wait to see where things go from here. Either in another season, project, or film.

It's similar to how Guy's suit is. But the lack of the gloves. The clearer jacket feel. The saturation of the colors. It's not perfect. But it gives me an aviator vibe, that I think would have fit Hal, had it gone in this direction.

DrFunk98 @drfunk98.bsky.social · 15h

Yes I'll comment on the suit. I don't think everything about its design philosophy is bad. It's not as egregious as other suit designs can be. But it's just too bulky for my tastes. I can't see this being in the field. Ironically, the Halloween version I think is kinda a better execution of it.

DrFunk98 @drfunk98.bsky.social · 15h

The dynamic of John and Hal is a lot of fun. Classic I'd say, given John's introduction in the comics. It's a great set up for John, without ignoring Hal. It's what I feel like Beware my Power was going for. Based on all I know about it. But even I felt it was kind of a shame how Hal turned out.

DrFunk98 @drfunk98.bsky.social · 15h

Lantern. Can be toxic to you. I've never really been a big fan of Hal Jordan. Never disliked him. And I know he's got extensive lore in the comics. Just felt kinda generic to me. And also yea I was one of the those kids that had John as my Lantern. But this show, actually really made me enjoy him.

114.) Lanterns. I love that this was the direction they went with. Green Lanterns are about willpower. And this really explores that. Without trying to say the other emotions, are things to ignore or suppress. That it's actually bad to ignore them. Catastrophic even. That the idea of being a Green-

Advertisers telling FA that plus sized characters are too sexual, then telling CSP to remove kissing references because it's too sexual, is a great example as to why advertisers are bad, and trying to sanitize the fandom is a waste of time. Advertisers, paypros and puritans belong in the bin.

If you can't adopt there are lots of other things you can do to help. Foster, volunteer, fundraise, do a supply drive, sign up for your local shelter's newsletter to find out other ways to help. Remember that volunteering doesn't necessarily mean physical labor - shelters need all kinds of skills!

Today would've been the sixty-fifth birthday of Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi. It tends to get swallowed up in the enormous franchise it became, but I truly believe that his original manga can provide a valuable lesson to artists about process and work and improvement over time.

1408 is the closest film I can compare it to. It takes many turns I wasn't expecting. But what I also adore about it, is its use of jump scares. They aren't all the BWUH kind. But like, literal ones. There's one that gets you cause of how causal it is. You see it and it takes you a sec to realize.

DrFunk98 @drfunk98.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

113.) Hokum. I wasn't expecting this, after hearing about the movie. I was expecting like an art house horror film. Which admittedly feels mean toward those. But it's a very dreamlike horror. In the way of like Silent Hill. Where you're always questioning what's real and what isn't.

DrFunk98 @drfunk98.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

112.) Wishmaster. I love this movie so much man. I think it's really clever in how the right the Djinn. It's a very fun angle. I love the performance and make up of him. And that voice. I've strived to emulate that voice. It's not the most amazing film in the world. But it's so fun with the concept.

I realized I accidentally made a parallel between part 1 and 2 of the SH3 parody. Heather talks on the phone to a very loving father in part 1. And then she talks on the phone to an awful deranged father in part 2.
