iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

It’s very easy to hate on digital advertising, but wow does direct mail suck ass. Maybe 30+ pieces of mail the span of a few days, not a single one worth looking at. So much waste.

if you haven't read @exmove.bsky.social's slide deck on what coolness is (h/t @garbageday.email), i highly recommend it. it will get you thinking about the deeper questions of what we want from culture and how it fulfills a need: docs.google.com/presentation...

Do you have a tool / automatic process to move them to Bluesky, or just a manual (eventual) copy and paste?

Has anyone asked these weirdos what (if anything) they’re actually producing with all these tokens?

Free business idea: - I support my favorite teams with merch, but most gear sucks - I don’t need moisture-wicking or stretch - If it’s Cotton, it's usually poorly-made. Here's what I want: - Nice merch made on thick cotton blanks, MiUSA, premium feeling. "Your grandchild's favorite vintage tee"

For me? Put on weighted backpack, put on the newest episode of my favorite podcast, and take the dog for a walk around the block.

The fact that he spends less than 1 sentence addressing the fact that “younger Americans believe failed them” was very surprising and strange.

Where does one give Bluesky invites to a good cause these days?

Sell prints and give the proceeds to a cause this person would hate?

Drew Shannon @drewshannon.net · 05/08/2023

Being from MI, I’ve tried learning 4-5 times, but it’s never stuck. I feel dumb.

Drew Shannon @drewshannon.net · 05/08/2023

Ah, I see now - yes, will do!

I agree, even less of a reason to hold it up as a realistic preview of some future production model, IMO

100

We can say Tesla doesn’t deserve that benefit-of-doubt, that’s reasonable. But there’s also plenty of real-world reasons to jump to conclusions that Cybertruck is a mess. I just don’t think this is one of them.

100

For example, if I saw the Apple AirPower in a museum, labeled as a prototype, and saw it had poor fit-and-finish, or didn’t actually work, I wouldn’t imply that the production version was / is also susceptible to those problems. I’ll judge it if / when it’s ready!

000

I don’t know if it will come out, I don’t care if it never comes out. My point just to say that in *any* manufacturing field, I don’t think it’s fair to make the implicit statement that a prototype clearly made for marketing is at the level of production-ready (whether production happens or not)

Tesla Cybertruck — Petersen Automotive Museum

I agree, it looks horrible! But it is *literally* described as a prototype, so assuming that’s what it will look like when (if) it is produced is not accurate.

Ok now you’re being willfully ignorant to my original post. Have a nice day.

100

I’m not here to be a Tesla apologist. My point was just to say that comparing a *labeled* prototype to any real-world product that’s being mass-produced is inaccurate.
