iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Sounds like my experience of travelling home on public transport after a 6pm RFC ko. I'm probably (hmm) becoming a grumpy old man, but hard not to wonder if society is going to hell on a handcart.

Yeah. Really bloody irritating.

Makes perfect sense. A "specially designed vehicle that operates as a tram on urban street-level networks and as a train on mainline railway tracks".

Jon Davies 'dodgy builders' response had me rolling around the floor 😂

The scary thing (to me) is that many still support Reform/Restore even when their elected officials are exposed as xenophobic self-serving halfwits. Politics, and the world I fear, is scrooted.

Can an independent nation state of Wales have the capacity to defend itself from a cyber attack? Or worse. The independence movement is a triumph of hubris over reality. I'm proudly Welsh but the concept of being an independent nation is laughable. I will always argue 'stronger together'.

Andy Baker @drewbaker.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Well I wish independent Wales well when Putin (et al) come calling.

Andy Baker @drewbaker.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

They said the same about Brexit. Devolution certainly, but independence nah. People with overarching shared values and goals are stronger together.

Even at RFC level we get jerked around by S4C - eg 7pm ko on a Thursday night away in Carmarthen?.... (not this season I hasten to add!).

Any idea what's going on with these evening kick-offs - some on a Friday night too?

Shame they can't be bothered to put the friendly fixtures on the fixture list (www.cardiffrugby.wales/fixtures/).

Wise words. It's too easy to quickly tweak a display and, as you say, they deviate over time and become unmanageable. Keep it simple I say.

Pretty much sums it all up doesn't it? Is there nothing that can't be bought with next to limitless money? While people struggle and go hungry. There are days when I'm happy I have more time behind me than in front of me... [rant over]

The Damned (Top Rank) Stiff Little Fingers (Top Rank) The Clash (Bath Pavillion) UK Subs (Manchester Russels) Ultravox (St Davids) Pink Floyd (Docklands Arena) Jean Michelle Jarre (Docklands outdoors) Yes (Wembley Arena) Crosby & Stills (Albert Hall) Caroline Shaw (Wigmore Hall) Heck I'm old.

Sorry for "starting you off".

I don't buy that (no pun intended). Sports gear is only expensive if people are daft enough to pay for branding. I'd love to see those figures as I still reckon we're being taken for a ride.

I find the prices incomprehensible. £46 for a short sleeve training t-shirt? I do wonder how many they sell (or the profit they make) at those prices, or if they understand that profit is margin multiplied by volume. I'd buy a couple at a sensible price point, but not when they're taking the p*ss.

Heard you mention your starter theme. Must give it a spin up - though DaisyUI will be another step for me (only just getting my head around SDC/Tailwind). I for one would certainly welcome some recipes/templates. FWIW I think there's a gap in the market between the free and the Dripyard offerings.

Additional wild thought. As somebody who's natural environment is the command line with vi/m and is only just starting to get his head around AI/Claude, a step back live stream on IDE/Drupal/AI integration and use would be invaluable. [I'll get my coat...]

Are the engagement statistics accurate and trustworthy? Is time frame is a consideration? A live stream / premium remains valid and valuable for a good period of time. Your content is excellent. As a D7 dev getting back into Drupal recently your output has been invaluable. And I thank you for it.

You can't believe the blazers, the majority of which appear to be gutless troglodytes, are going to hold their management to account? History suggests otherwise.

100% Venice is quite stunning, but I give it a swerve these days for the same reason as Rome - too many bloody tourists! Give me Treviso anyday :-)

110

Andy Baker @drewbaker.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

... and don't even start me on the architecture. Any town of a reasonable size invariably has fascinating historical buildings. Sorry. I'll STFU now!

Andy Baker @drewbaker.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

Rome is too busy/full of tourists for me. But each to their own. Give me Veneto anytime. No rugby journey is complete without multiple visits to Treviso (and Calvisano!). Backstreet eateries that serve better food than any UK swanky pants starred restaurant. IMHO.

I'm going to stand up for PSB. While I agree BBC News has become a sh*tshow, there remains some excellent current affairs programming if one digs deeper. Newsnight (though denuded), Politics Live, Unspun World, Global Eye (et al). The alternative is?

The extent of my soccer knowledge wouldn't fill the back of the proverbial fag packet, but UEFA's stance had me standing and applauding. Laura McAllister's interview on Newsnight was worth the ticket price.

After reading this post I finally bit the bullet and installed Docker/DDEV today. Always feared the abstraction. But OMG. Can't stop grinning. Goodbye faffing around configuring LAMP locally!

Seriously? As you allude, psyc and the top two inches are important. But it's pointless fettling the leaves when the trunk is dying.
