94-year-old human rights lawyer among hundreds of protestors arrested in test of Burnham’s mettle
ANDY BURNHAM faced growing calls to deproscribe Palestine Action today as hundreds of protesters as old as 94 were arrested for supporting the banned group during his first Labour Party conference as PM.Scores of police hauled away more than 230 demonstrators who sat outside the conference in Liverpool holding home-made signs which read: “I support Palestine Action.”Many of those arrested for alleged terror offences were pensioners, who chanted “free, free Palestine” every time a supporter was carried away.

Is there a problem Andy Burnham doesn't think a Mayor can fix? The problem with our water industry is not oversight - it's companies that have a duty to maximise shareholder value, rather than provide an efficient and effective water system.

The idea that £500,000 is too low a limit shows how divorced politics has become from the real life of British voters. Half-a-million pounds represents 18 years worth of takehome pay for someone on median earning of about £33,000 who spends nothing on rent, food, bills or any other outgoings.
