This show is a gift that might have been specifically hand-crafted for me. (I mean, you can watch, too.) Detectorists is one of my all-time favorite comfort shows. Magical realism is one of my favorite genres. I’m off to go spend my time with homunculi and unexpected besties.

I just don’t think people realize how long this has taken or how many folks didn’t think it would ever happen and/or get to see it come to fruition.

One other thought about the union announcement: A lot of people who laid the foundation and culture for this moment over the last few years aren’t at Wizards anymore for a lot of reasons and/or are contractors/freelance contributors. This is your win, too. Thank you for making it possible. 💜

So truly proud of and thrilled for all of you. I’ve been emotional about it all day and texting my non-gaming friends going “LOOK WHAT’S HAPPENING IN GAMES!!!”

I am so, so proud of everyone who built the foundation for this and everyone on those teams today. I didn’t think I’d witness this during my career, and I’m overjoyed for all of them.

Thinking of you today, and knowing you are part of what built the incredible team and culture that brought us to this moment. Thank you for everything you poured into this and for continuing to make this industry better than you found it for the folks who are lucky enough to follow your lead. 💜

We see this sort of abuse even more so in video games (where people are regularly laid off after successful projects). People are more likely to accept an abusive business relationship for a job they love, which is why those jobs need unionization MORE, not LESS.

As we close in on the midterms, a friendly reminder to check your voter registration status early and often, but ONLY on the state websites. Those third-party databases might be accurate, but you're gonna be passing along a lot of PII (Personally Identifiable Information) to whoever manages them.

The white evangelical movement split in the 1970s so those who hated civil rights, especially for women, could boost right-wing Republicans. Talarico is reclaiming the movement for the others, and it is a very different thing indeed. Jimmy Carter v. Jerry Falwell.

I just produced a podcast where they hadn’t initially budgeted (optional) HMU for the guests. It was one of the first things I flagged to change because I’ve *been* the guest who shows up expecting audio-only and getting a deeply unpleasant surprise that could live forever on the internet.

Games is in a sphere comparable to where we were working, and COULD choose to operate like this, but brands would need to commit in a way I doubt they’d be willing to engage. But on many projects, not just shows/podcasts, I still think we’d really benefit from so many aspects of this model. /8

Operating from a framework of TV/film production and then building the podcast/narrative/show format through development is so much smoother than the reverse, allows for real budgeting, secures stronger guests, and minimizes disruptions. 7/

We only ended up hitting really intense hours when we hadn’t planned well, had last-minute scheduling issues with guests, or hit a post crunch where tech gremlins screwed us. Otherwise, we were generally on or ahead of schedule bc we planned for both some life and body/brain flexibility. 6/

Well, *fuck*. California AG Rob Bonta just surrendered to the Trump-aligned billionaires who want to take over and destroy Warners, merging it with the chudded-out husk of Paramount, leaving these two corrupt assholes to control Warners, Paramount *and* Tiktok: www.reuters.com/legal/litiga...

The Warner Brothers tower. It has been tinted orange and is leaning at a 30-40' angle. It is surmounted by Trump's hair. The tower is wavering. The background is ominous, red-tinged clouds, through which peek a marching army of banner-waving demons.
