Exactly. It feels like there’s a huge gap in education, which is probably a consequence of the exam system. Teaching critical thinking as an actual subject area would help, because you’d look at “why” you were learning that

My (v.curious) son did most of his learning via the likes of YouTube - and most of the things he discovered had no effect on his school life because exam / essay answers were so prescriptive. Unless you really understand *why* you’re learning, it’s not surprising people are keen to take shortcuts

It’s a bit of a worry, to be sure

Maybe kids still don’t make that connection a lot of the time? Because (through no fault of teachers) schools are mostly just exam factories, so unless you’re really curious or switched on, essays and maths homework still feel like tick boxes?

Dr Caz 🌳🇪🇺 🇺🇦🔸 @drcj.bsky.social · 2h

Yes to this But - and I don’t know if it’s a product of my 1980s education or of the way my brain is - at school I thought everything was just a tick box. Get that right, pass that test, get a good grade on that essay, all will be good. I just didn’t understand the process of *learning* back then

Gove acting out his fantasies of being PM on The Wargame was horrific enough. I don’t want to hear him further rehabilitated by having to listen to his opinions, especially about education which imho he ruined for an entire generation No thanks

Agreed It was such a stupid thing to do, at exactly the wrong time given the surge in Green popularity and the by election this week. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot

Ooh I have a whole inch on you! Finding short jeans is very hard. Maybe easier with men’s? Gap used to do them, but they stopped, which annoyed me a lot

Dr Caz 🌳🇪🇺 🇺🇦🔸 @drcj.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Interesting. Not my jeans - my phone lives in my back pocket! And I find it handy that it’s a little higher as it’s not quite so nickable when covered by my top. But the front pockets are completely pointless

010

Dr Caz 🌳🇪🇺 🇺🇦🔸 @drcj.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Not saying you eat too many biscuits, obvs… you probably have narrower hips, and maybe narrower thighs too? My son’s ex used to wear men’s jeans, looked amazing in them

100

Dr Caz 🌳🇪🇺 🇺🇦🔸 @drcj.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Thats lucky. Men’s jeans wouldn’t fit round my hips. At least not if they were also going to work on the waist. Maybe I should eat more biscuits , then they might 🤔😂
