Yeti are also a good barometer for determining how much research someone actually did. They're so often treated as just an alpine Sasquatch. But the local stories of them are very unique and sometimes bizarre.

I'd be curious to see how deep vs surface-level they get into their folklore research on each creature. Dragons for example; if you had to lump them all together and pick the most common inspiration source, borrow most concretely from snakes more than anything else.

So much AI psychosis exhibited by the people interviewed in this. They’re all anthropomorphising the model and making incorrect assumptions based of doing so, that can’t be good for research.

Yeah I haven’t been immersed in it as much, that’s likely why it throws me off. I only occasionally hear it when people discuss proper hiking form, or correct form for some exercises.

Perhaps it originated in a land of super high arches. For me, sure it looks a little more like a ball if I squint when I’m in the process of rising up off my foot, but still not nearly as much as the heel does.

I can never understand or remember the term “the ball of the foot”. Internet says it’s our metatarsal pad. But this looks absolutely nothing like a ball. My first assumption always been it’s the heel pad, the only part of the foot that’s actually spherical. Does this ever confuse anyone else?

Some critters and bear sign from a recent trip to Tahoma/Rainier. Cascades frogs and a pile of paedomorphic northwestern salamanders in an alpine pond. We think the salamanders were clustering up in search of water with higher oxygen levels.

I wonder how that’d play out in court though in a case where someone didn’t explicitly try and get a specific child’s/person’s face, and yet that’s what they ended up generating because their photos were in a dataset. Would the lack of intent matter to the law?

Seems like AI generated deep fakes would blur the line here. As AI does source images of real people including real children, that’s how the whole thing works. Much like how AI can replicate copyrighted film frames without much extra prodding, it can also spit out a real person’s face and body.

Yep! We were trying out a modular approach for the regular Kryptis enemies, the skyscale was one of the first things made for that army and he was sculpted in sectioned off pieces for ease of reuse. Helped to make a cohesive aesthetic.
