It's cool that this is in Florida, however it's also within a confederation (Concacaf) that has arbitrarily excluded winners from a division 1 league under it's umbrella from competing in its continental club championship & has no clear info on who is competing from USA when it restarts in 2027.

Massive disappointment that not all USL clubs are participating. Pro clubs should not have to qualify for this tournament, and expansion clubs should be eligible. Adding more amateur teams and starting everyone one measly game earlier in round one would solve it. www.ussoccer.com/stories/2026...

For reference, that's a comparable drive distance to what Inter Miami had between temp and permanent venues. Similarly ramshackle rollouts for those two organizations. Whether Legacy also gets to paper over all the mistakes by landing biggest star on planet remains to be seen lol.

I know they won't do it because of appearances, but USL regionalizing both USLC *and* USL Premier would be such a positive thing. Zero real competitive or commercial reasons teams from opposite sides of the continent need to ever play each other outside of late round Open Cup/USL Cup or Concacaf.

Big news from the USL: Gainbridge Super League president Amanda Vandervort will be leaving the position on Friday. According to the USL's statement, Vandervort is leaving to "pursue other opportunities." No word on who will be replacing her in charge of the league that just started its 3rd season.

Just cut to the chase and make MLS Cup a postseason knockout competition, uncoupled from regular season, and let everybody in. Expand to 32 teams for a clean bracket (or include MLSNP finalists). Everybody gets a "playoff" game to promote. You can even keep the same trophy/history. #MLSPlayoffs
