The moment alcohol is introduced into the equation, neither party is deemed capable of giving legal consent. It doesn't matter how much tolerance either person has built up or if they chose to partake in it. Alcohol inhibits a person's ability to make sound decisions.

I'm sorry if I came off as "digging in." Nothing can change me being a member of the fraternity though. You can't simply leave after joining. As for what I shared earlier, I have ADHD; I have a habit of oversharing, even bringing up stuff that might or might not even be relevant to the topic.

Once investigations concluded, and it was found to be a false accusation, we made sure to communicate with him about why he was dropped and that we held no hard feelings toward him. He was a real nice guy, and I'm sorry he had to go through all that.

Ultimately, he was dropped while he was still going through the new member process. We voted to do so not only to avoid any backlash from people assuming we're okay with sexual assault, but also to protect him from his fellow new members.

In the event of any allegations of rape brought forth by a Jane Doe victim, it's reasonable to initially take their side on the issue. However, it is imperative to conduct further investigations to prevent false allegations. We've had one Title IX false allegation happen before.

In what way am I excusing this? Our chapter was always known for calling out this type of shit and caring about the safety of anyone attending our parties or visiting the house in general. I do not and will never condone rape or any form of nonconsensual interaction.

My partial opinion: Alumni don't know everything going on within the chapter. We only know what's in the minutes each week. National only knows as much as is relayed to them. As such, it is the responsibility of the active brothers of the chapter to hold each other accountable.

I am a Chi Phi member. I was an active brother of the Delta Pi chapter from Spring 2022 - Spring 2024, so I have been an alumnus of Chi Phi for 2+ years now. It's a bit extreme to blame the entire fraternity as a whole. It'd be more reasonable to focus on the chapter, or even the ones who did it.
