imo most people have a fairly similar skill level at a given game: noob. the exception is when players are coming in with enough legacy skill that theyre bored.

best then-vs-now comparison would probably be an intercept radar equipped mosquito. not to say the costs arent insane but genuinely i dont think a jet with equivalent capabilities could be sold and delivered for ever so much less. compare airliner prices or perhaps eurofighter.

no, that is what a hellcat cost. b-17s and to a greater extent the b-29 imo are part of why things are like this now. that said i would say the main reason why today's aircraft are overpriced is deindustrialization, the type of wars we start, and wage growth

but hey i dunno maybe the US's history with the computer industry before ICs was actually the thing that poisoned everything. Nobody could let go of selling computers that cost ten percent less than the years salary of a room full of guys with slide rules.

honestly i dont believe that. I do think the integrated circuit was an insane curveball, ironically with probably the most impact on countries that were pioneers in electronics. BUT. It seems more like tech has post-neoliberal dirt baked into its foundation and thats mostly why its rotten.
