DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 04/10/2026It is. It reminds me of when I saw this sign and spent a few weeks trying to remind myself to use it that way. I couldn't pull it off. 010
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 26/09/2026My story is we need to work together to figuratively remove the Xs from this sign that feels too accurate. 020
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Reminds me of this old advertising poster in the Sapporo Brewery. The gist of it as explained to me was that since Sapporo is at roughly the same latitude as Munich and Milwaukee, beer made there would be good. 000
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Not finding a lot I love in my trip photos. And I'm not truly happy with the light in this one, but I wanted to share just because it's wild to see the lot at sunrise empty save a few work trucks a couple clusters of pumpkin tanks. 051
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 21/09/2026This is probably the favorite photo that I've taken myself. Enjoy! 250
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Fur balls. The pika were not being shy this weekend. The little, zoomy point and shoot I carry backpacking excels at critter closeups in good light. Other shots returned more challenging images that I don't have it in me to deal with today. Maybe I'll have something more soon. 191
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Had lunch with a view on Friday. Just laying this down as a marker, so hopefully I go though the other photos I took and share one or two of them. 3100
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 09/09/2026This one made me go across the room and look at the little print we picked up in our Yukon travels. The artist's bio fell off the back and it mentioned she lives in Whitehorse with her fiancé, Peter. I know Whitehorse is big enough to have multiple Peters, but I gotta ask.... 130
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 03/09/2026August. I actually took these early in the month and forgot to post them. A couple of closeups of the visible damage the beetles are doing to the tree. Bore holes and discolored bark. 011
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 01/09/2026I saw this just in time to remind myself to freeze my sauce with a break line. Works well for when you usually use something in a large quantity, but sometimes want less. 110
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 01/09/2026You asked the day before the higher resolution originals expired out of my trash. Looks like it is an e-tron badge. If I see it around the neighborhood again, I'll take a closer look. 110
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 28/08/2026So close...when I went to look it up I was sure it was the same name first and last. 000
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 24/08/2026If this is the two car solution, what was the problem being solved? #weirdcarbs 141
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Check it out. New (to me, and newish overall) Lego art aboard the MV Issaquah. A model of itself, complete with full car deck. Photos aren't great. I held a polarizing filter in front of my phone camera to try to reduce glare from the case. #WSFerries 150
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 10/08/2026This was a PITA, but in a fun way. I excluded places I know a was as a small child but have no direct memory of. Also excluded airports that I never left the terminal. 010
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 09/08/2026I started with Canada cuz I thought it would be quick. It was not. Stay tuned for the US at some point. Probably. 120
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Crossover is excessive for the Beerrun. Electrify one of these: 100
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 31/07/2026When this bright pink ship poked out into the sun on my nothing walk I really wished I had something with a longer lens than my phone. 030
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 31/07/2026A photo from a few years ago, but more relevant than ever. 010
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Dear #WCBS, I would like to draw your attention to this Ford Transit Connect with moondiscs that has been fully rebadged as an Audi. 5114
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Yes. A very ugly one that refuses to die so that I can replace it with something nicer. But at least I'm well aware of when it needs to be refilled. 110
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Probably addressing the people who took advice from this sign: 130
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 27/07/2026I know you all think Jimothy is cute and all, but what if I told you that critter made a move on my tomatoes??? 011
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 27/07/2026Not pristine, but I saw this one a few weeks back with the groove painted in a contrasting color. I'm surprised at don't see this more often. Like, why didn't I do this to the one I drove in high school? 010
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 27/07/2026July. The leaves remain green, but the catkins have mostly turned brown and started to fall. 141
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 25/07/2026It's so gorgeous. A perfect Alpine valley. When I was last there (2011? 12 maybe) a good portion of the hike up was through a burn. 021
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 22/07/2026In 2015 I was able to chat with one of the crew chiefs (not the firefighter in the photo below) fighting fires near Lake Chelan as we rode through them on the boat to Stehekin. He cited, as one of the many reasons for the intensity of our current fires, the decades of the "out by 9AM" policy. 110
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 22/07/2026We drove the coast highway from Otaru to Wakkanai. I would love to return and drive it again in better weather. And in something other than a HiAce camper. Some scenes from the drive. 141
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 22/07/2026From Wakkanai, consider taking the ferry out to Rishiri and Rebun. Rishiri is a cone of a mountain that rises from the sea and Rebun is its relatively flat neighbor, known for wildflowers at certain times of year. I visited in winter and only got to Rishiri. 120
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 22/07/2026Wakkanai is a trip. Street signs are in Japanese, English and Russian. There's a pretty good community onsen there. 140
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 15/07/2026The loop at Maple Pass can be amazing for larches in the fall. But it's pretty well known and can get quite crowded when they start going off. 150
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 08/07/2026People, myself included, like to shit on phone cameras and computational photography. But, I have to admit, I do enjoy playing with the the after the fact long exposures. Even if they do lead to cartoonish results, sometimes. 120
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Waking up to this scene is good for the soul. Happy for the chance to do so from time to time. 041
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 16/06/2026I don't know what's involved in that combo or what your other considerations are. But if you are shopping for a camera and all else is equalish, the option that maintains that possibility seems like a good one. 000
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 13/06/2026It requires some pre-planning. Obviously, you are going to stop somewhere to enjoy the town onsen in the evening, so grabbing a bite at that time makes sense. It's also a good time to hit a shop and grab an assortment of canned sake to try once you stop rolling for the day. 010
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 13/06/2026I'm enjoying following your travels though Japan. Some shots remind me of my own time there. Others are places and scenes new to me. One of our most memorable meals was in a little six seat place in Asahikawa that we wandered into without phones - just a paper phrase book. 140
DanG @dpgestwick.bsky.social · 08/06/2026Fogo sat still for a second while I was holding a camera. A rare occasion. 095
