@jesszafarris.com in the days of vaudeville, there would be people waiting around backstage hoping to go on stage. hope you break a leg means I hope you break the site line and are on the stage. You only got paid if you win on stage. he's hoping someone breaks a leg.

@jesszafarris.com. The legs are the black drapes that are hanging vertically that separate the different wings where you enter on and off stage from. If you broke the sideline from the audience, then you broke a leg and then you would get paid.

@jesszafarris.com so I know I'm a little late on this, because the video was is a year old . But just saw it. While listening to your video on idioms, I heard you talk about the idiom "to break a leg". That is not a sarcastic way of saying good luck. That comes from the early days of vaudeville.

Which is to say, the federal-level push to do so is the most visible and public federally sanctioned effort to erase nonwhite history in a few decades, AND it's also been happening at state and community levels during recent times when we were said to have been making progress on this front.

A few years ago, my mom dug up some historically significant patents, property details, etc. from her grandparents' rural Arkansas property. She asked the local archive if they were interested; they were, but only because our family is white. They'd been instructed not to accept records from POC.

As long as guns are easily available to crazy people, mass killings directed at so-called soft targets will continue. This is a fact. Countries where it's more difficult for crazy people to obtain guns have less shootings. This is also a fact. Do with these facts as you will.

I'm not sure if it's possible for me to have more respect for Zelensky now than I ever did before. He is putting country before self like no other person in our modern times.
