I have a two-piece fabric panel of an orchid and I think I'm going to try to replicate the lines that look like a flower as the quilting on it. (I can't find a picture of the left panel, but this is the right panel and you can see why your data viz inspires me.)

I'm making Sallie Tomato's Tula Tote as a Mahjong bag for a friend. I've successfully cut out all the main and contrast fabric pieces, so what' left is interfacing, lining fabric, foam and stabilizer, which is about 8,493 more pieces. 😂

Proof of completion! The darling's name is Ivy Rayne. The fabric line is named after a nearby (to me) body of water. The quilting in the rows is (supposed to be) alternating rows of ivy and wind/clouds/rain. The raindrops on the binding all fall down! The backing fabric is the same as the binding.

Life sort of went into overdrive with reaching the end of a massive project at work concurrent with getting a new family member. I'm taking today and Monday off work. It's nice to not be moving at the speed of light all the time for a change!

I think I figured out one of the problems: the spool can't spin. Which is gonna work fine for some threads, but not others. Cones are fine - but I have other types of spools. The "thread guide base" however is a persistent problem. Thread ALMOST NEVER stays under that damn screw.
