As the government reopens safe routes for some, two women and a 10-year-old child died trying to cross the Channel. Reopening these routes is welcome. But safe routes for some isn't enough. The UK must do more to play its part in protecting refugees.

Go quiet for 3 months and you can be deregistered from your GP, prescriptions cut off too. GP practice's are calling the process "seriously flawed." The most at-risk are the exact people who need care most. We call for an end to this aggressive patient list cleaning.

GP practices are cutting ties with the NHS Federated Data Platform built by Palantir, the US firm arming ICE with patient health data. Sharing patient data with immigration enforcement keeps sick people from doctors. Palantir poisons the whole system. Good on them for drawing the line.

GPs go by catchment area not borough, so a nearby address in another borough can still be inside a practice's catchment. You shouldn't have been refused if you were in it. Ask for their catchment map + reason in writing. If you were wrongly refused you can escalate to your ICB. Hope that helps Lila!

46% of GP staff we surveyed in England believed proof of address was required to register a patient. It's not. Everyone in the UK has the right to register with a GP, no ID or proof of address required. Refusals happen anyway, far too often. 🧵

This debt will cost people their health. £10,000, charged for support received while banned from working. The Government's debt will pressure people into unsafe work, housing, and poorer health just to pay it off. It's the same trap as NHS charging. You cannot punish people for seeking safety.

Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. Sweden was found to have violated that right by charging migrants for medical care. The UK Government does the same with NHS treatment. It's time the UK was held to the same standard.

Most importantly, if you feel unwell do not wait. NHS 111 is free, available 24/7, and you don't need to be registered with a GP. If you suspect heatstroke in yourself or someone else, it is a medical emergency. Call 999 immediately or go straight to A&E.
