I simply don't feel safe crossing the border as long as Trump is president. I miss visiting my friend Adam in Minneapolis, and I want to visit Ashland and see the Shakespeare festival again one day, but for now I know that it's not a good idea, best to stay in Canada until things improve.

I love going down to the States, especially California. Honestly, Disneyland and Universal Studios are my happy places, especially around Halloween when all the spooky entertainment is out. I'm not going this year. I'm probably not going for the next three years after that.

I'm Canadian. There were a few close friends of my parents that I called 'Aunt' and 'Uncle' and in fact still refer to them that way today. Uncle Charles and Aunt Claudia are my godparents for example, Aunt Jan and Uncle Cliff were good friends of my parents, etc. It's not uncommon, for sure.

They knew that whether it's your country or not, if it's your ideals then YOU should fight for them, not just demand that other people fight and die for your beliefs. So either stop criticizing and accept that they're fighting as best they can...or get down and help.

There are no borders when it comes to fighting fascism, but it seems that like so many Canadians you want other people to take risks, fight your battles, while you sit back and do nothing other than abrogate responsibility. You can't sit back in safety and scream at others for not taking risks.

I get the anger as a fellow Canadian and I sympathize, but we also have to be realistic. No one can afford to protest 24/7. They have to work. They have to support themselves. They have to feed themselves and their families. They have to sleep. They have to maintain their social connections.

Fucking Carney and Ford backed down on their ad criticizing the US because Trump threw a tantrum. Carney practically ran on a platform of "We're going to be tough on the US and insist that Trump backs down from these tariffs" and instead he's been kowtowing since his election.

I have what's called Advanced Nervous System Motor Dysfunction, basically a mild cerebral palsy. Typing is a great deal easier for me as mostly I just have to move my fingers up and down with a little variation on angle. My hands get very sore writing and holding a pencil/pen. Digital here.

The cat had clawed through the bottom of the couch and hidden inside it. I was only moving up one floor so the movers just transported cat and couch upstairs while I walked along behind them ready to grab her if she made a dash for it, but she didn't and was deposited in her new home safely.

My favorite 'Cat gets in where they shouldn't' moment still remains when I was moving and could not find my cat anywhere when the movers came. We looked through the whole place and finally I told the movers to get started. They picked up a couch and I heard an indignant "MEOW!" from inside it.

I remember when I was trying to get assistance for my disability (advanced nervous system motor dysfunction) and my counselor told me it wouldn't be a problem because "It's not like you're REALLY disabled or anything". That was the kind of treatment and support I got.
