I’ve never been so invested in an AFL game as I have with today’s GF and the fact that Freo has lost just has me reeling. I feel so numb and sad. I was honestly thinking we had it and then to see them lose was the most heartbreaking 4 mins of my life.

What may have otherwise been transitory feelings are seized upon and obsessed over until they form a central pillar of a person’s identity. A chronic-illness influencer won’t want to get “better” any more than a female-bodied transgender person would want to re-identify with their sex.
