My wife, sister in law and her husband at the in-laws 50th wedding anniversary party

Donovan @donomite.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Truly masochist behavior by me at my in-laws. At least I didn't watch the Manchester United game yesterday. I did unfortunately watch Penn State. Eagles are just frustrating.

This was a slow week of music, but was it ever good. Firtan and Glyph were amazing. I love Spirit Possession live, but never a huge fan of the albums....until now. This one rips.

It's my wife's birthday and we are in North Carolina for her parents 50th anniversary. This is what the actual sunset looked like.

I was looking at the Apollo code in GitHub and I love that even back then, programmers had a sense of humor, even something in a straight laced government program. Look at the name of that last code file.

a bunch of code files, and the last one is Burn_baby_burn--Master_Ignition_routine

Come on Iowa. If the reasons to vote for Rob Sand in Iowa weren't enough on the politics, somehow, this should be. I mean, building a skate park? Come on! Put him in office!

Fine. 9 albums that shaped me. These were all hugely influential. Picked Ride over Stone Roses. Thought about combining Fugazi with Minor Threat and just picking one, but they are so different I couldn't.

Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Ride - Nowhere
Minor Threat - Complete Discography
Fugazi - 13 Songs
Helmet - Meantime
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come
Between the Buried and Me - Colors

Listened to 3 bands that I used to listen to a lot (AJJ, Interpol, Ceremony) but not so much recently. New Noctule is great and met my expectations. New Rorcal is not as creepy as Muladona was, but very good. Saw Gasket and Scalp live and listened to them on way to show. #metalsky

AJJ - Dirty Old Power
Interpol - This Mirror Weighs A Ton
Ceremony - Tell Me Your Dream
Noctule - Extinguish Thy Flame

I managed to hang both my bikes up. Gave my other bike to my son. I am also a terrible handyman. I also discovered my one spoke is loose, which sucks.

I made it to the Scalp show. And I wore my Scalp tshirt because I rarely have a good place to wear it. I don't go to many hardcore shows.

#metalsky Top 2 rows are all great new albums. Trhä could trim the songs down a bit, but cool. Fine for another 20 year break from U2. Sherwin have been friends for like 15 years, that I always thought they would get bigger than our local scene, but they didn't. They are fantastic AJJ style punk...

Thanks to @machinemusic.bsky.social, I have been inspired to put this on. Album has the longest build up to one of the best songs. You can't start at song 3. You need to go through the 17 minutes of 1 and 2 in order to get the full release of song 3.

Wrong Man is like a new Fugazi album. Fluisteraars album being done live in one take is pretty amazing. Green Lung is good, if you like their old stuff, you'll like it. I haven't listened to U2 in maybe 20 years. But I was reminded that they used to be pretty good. Social D was good. #metalsky

Weird week. A lot of new stuff for me. Sigh just doesn't do it for me like some. It's got a whiff of power metal to it, which I'm not a fan of. Chat Pile I'm never sure where I come down on either. It's good. Just not 100% my thing. Oh, and a lot of Airbourne. Amyl was unexpected country. #metalsky

Finally climbed this son of a bitch mountain without stopping. I have made it to maybe 100 yards from the top several times, but could never quite pull it off to the top. New bikes got the gears for it.

I have a tattoo scheduled for next month and I am getting a MST3K tattoo. Unfortunately, the Final Sacrifice doesn't work too well, so might do the cover of Pumaman or Robot Monster. Or just let my artist design something cool. Who knows?

I like how I saw something on YouTube about the bikes the pros were riding and I looked up the wheels cause they looked cool and now I'm getting ads like this. My friend, those wheels were $2,500 a piece. I was never interested.
