It seems to me that a solution to encouraging AI 'alignment' would be to hold AI companies and their executives legally liable - criminally, if relevant - for what their AI agents do.

A person that writes a prompt to get AI to generate something is not an artist or engineer, they are a micromanaging middle manager.

At a company where they mandate AI coding, I wonder if it's possible to have a second account in the version control system to submit AI generated code under.

Here's one interesting event that just happened. Windows has decided to remove OneDrive from the notifications settings panel. OneDrive complains that it cannot send notifications because they are disabled and tells me to change in settings, does not exist in settings, no known fix online.

Let me know when AI understands truth from fiction, facts from falsehoods, and can actually knows what those things are. Until then it is just a sparkling random text generator.

A friend showed me that Slay the Spire 2 has been review bombed on Steam because of a certain consultant. Some men can be so soft these days that they post negative comments on a video game because their feeling got hurt, while they do nothing when governments actually erode their personal freedoms.

Albanese telling people to reconsider driving is incredible optics. Mate, you built a country where driving is mandatory. A country where cyclists, pedestrians, and anyone not using a car is treated as a second-class citizen. Car-dependence is baked into every major policy you have architected.

Was there any legal decision made as to if source code licences like the GPL would taint the data set that a LLM would be trained on and therefore taint the generated output of said LLM?

I'm genuinely curious about what local NPU processing can accomplish and what it is being used for. Does a 40 TOPS NPU have current use cases more than just playing around with toys and examples? Or is it a waste of silicon because anything useful requires a data centre rack worth of compute.

I posted a small article relating to many peoples' favourite topic: www.dominikgrabiec.com/posts/2026/0... I've had this written for many months but never felt comfortable enough to post it. Don't know if this means it is a good piece of writing or not.

What’s a technology that you think is overhyped?

I’m going to give a sideways answer to this, which is that the venture capital business model needs to be understood as requiring hype. You can go back to the Netscape IPO, and that was the proof point that made venture capital the financial lifeblood of the tech industry.

Venture capital looks at valuations and growth, not necessarily at profit or revenue. So you don’t actually have to invest in technology that works, or that even makes a profit, you simply have to have a narrative that is compelling enough to float those valuations. So you see this repetitive and exhausting hype cycle as a feature in this industry. A couple of years ago, you would have been asking me about the metaverse, then last year, you would have asked me about Web3 and crypto, and for each of these inflection points there’s an Andreessen Horowitz manifesto.

It’s not simply that one piece of technology is overhyped, it’s that hype is a necessary ingredient of the current business ecosystem of the tech industry. We should examine how often the financial incentive for hype is rewarded without any real social returns, without any meaningful progress in technology, without these tools and services and worlds ever actually manifesting. That’s key to understanding the growing chasm between the narrative of techno-optimists and the reality of our tech-encumbered world.

I've always likened LLMs to that one uncle/relative who has an opinion on everything and expresses it confidently as if it were fact. So when people claim they're exploring the frontiers of science with LLMs I picture them having beers/weed on a porch at 3am talking shit incoherently.

Was watching a video and they mentioned "side-loading". FFS it's not "side" loading, it's just installing. A normal and natural way of installing programs and applications since the dawn of the PC. Using a vendor specific store is the unusual way to install things.
