Has there ever been a faster rise and fall than Burnham this past 24 hours? What on earth is he thinking with his statement on Manchester City. What. On. Earth 🤯

It’s so funny to see how anti-populist Labour were until they found their own populist (status quo centrist dad pretending to be a populist I should say)

Since agreeing to a ceasefire last October, Israel has killed 1,200 Palestinians and wounded over 3,888 people. The U.N.-backed Board of Peace and Pres. Trump have not condemned a single attack. 9 more Palestinians were killed and 36 injured in the Gaza Strip on Saturday.

Seems like Labour are ok with populism all of a sudden. As long as it’s their populist. Burnham coming across very much as a wannabe Mayor of England (not UK even). Hoping for the best but feels like budget Blairism so far.

Such a relief to be rid of Starmer. But Burnham is a big Isrl fan too so can’t see it’ll make much of a difference to Palestinians sadly 💔

Andy Burnham won in Makerfield because voters think he will offer something different from a Labour government they frankly hate. That's the test he now has to pass!

You cannot look at those sentences and the terrorism charge and conclude anything other than this government doing it to please Isrl/USA. Utterly outrageous. Yet more tactics to suppress our rejection of a genocide. Just when you thought Labour couldn’t stoop any lower. Wrecking the UK.

The more I listen to Burnham, the more I realise he’s just a northern Starmer. Same stroppiness, same lack of imagination, same blahblah. Tying himself to the same shitty narrative and status quo. Biden to Harris transition all over again. PM Farage he we come 🤮

I’m totally torn. The good thing about our military being small and shit is that without that supply we don’t create demand for more pointless wars. We just can’t get involved. Literally. But then I’d love us to be a force for good as a peacekeeper. But I just don’t trust us to be that way.

I’m going to say it.I’m not keen on Burnham. He overstates what he’s done in Grtr Manchester (v little in a decade) leaving so many kids in poverty, he wants change but all his policies are status quo.He claims he’s change but sounds just like the rest. Not hopeful. open.spotify.com/episode/2jjQ...

I’m not sure the patronising tone from Lammy and “the adults in the room” will get them very far. The “adults” won through no work of their own, just hatred for the Tories with fewer votes than Corbyn. And have since delivered next to nothing. They might want to reflect on their failings.

Dominic Campbell @dominiccampbell.bsky.social · 12/05/2026
Lammy and Co so disingenuous talking about Starmer’s 5 year mandate. He’s not President. He’s just the leader of the Labour Party. There’s 400 other people who could take his place.
