The revocation of both green cards and visas often references and hinges upon “would have been denied admission into the USA.” It’s an odd turn of phrase, but largely is because these laws started by assuming people must have lied or concealed facts to enter the USA to begin with.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

As a reminder: using military bases to detain people is a violation of the Geneva convention, limits the access of the Red Cross and other agencies to oversee conditions and restricts the access to lawyers. It’s an appalling suggestion. These camps could be used to disappear people. Fuck no.

That’s what I did in Seattle in 2016 - I ran to prove a point, trans people can and should run for office. It was before we had some big wins for trans folks. People often demonize us and forget - we have just as much a right and stake in politics. I hope she runs again!
