Day 5 and ready to be out of this place. Had surgery yesterday (cytoscopy w/ Kidney Stone removal & stint placement) but have continued to fight sepsis & kidney infection. Pain has been pretty intolerable all night. So angry my insurance denied coverage of IV antibiotics for Sepsis, like how?

I absolutely heard it in the court room today - Coney Barret kept going back to sports and bathrooms. I sadly think Robert’s and Gorsuch also sounded deeply skeptical. I am not feeling hopeful - getting there at 4am and sitting in the cold 🥶 felt important but ugh 😣

Today’s hearing was a lot. I arrived at 5:00 and had to wait hours in the cold. Paid “line sitters” who make $25 / hr slept out overnight to hand their spot to rich people to get inside. Our system is so fucked top to bottom and it’s gross 🤮.

If we examine the legal definition of Defamation - it is shockingly clear that @nytimes.com is printing defamatory statements. 1. The quotes repeatedly assert the player “is a man” (she is not). 2. It’s in The NY Times. 3. The coach knows her legal gender. 4. The intent is to deprive her of rights.

I was assigned male at birth - transitioned at 14 in the 90s and played on girls teams in high school. I sucked as an athlete. Being in sports was about friendship, not winning. Your assumption that being assigned one gender somehow inherently makes you good at sports just isn’t correct imho. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The right question I pose is - “what is alternative?” At 5’5” 125lbs looking like this - which team is it “most fair” for me to play on? If you’re deciding - which soccer ⚽️ team am I going on? How about basket ball? 🏀

I worry so much about the future ahead for queer and trans young people. I know how fucked and hard is was for us.. I’ve fought like hell for laws and policies that might give youth some leg up, even a 10% better chance than we had. I’m so glad I made it out alive - so many friends didn’t.

That man convinced him to leave home and come be his “boyfriend” - when Stephen was 18 his abuser was convicted of CSA of another boy at a Christian youth program - he was devastated and crushed. He came to live with me, but honestly his abuser going to prison shattered him so deeply.

We met on a bus 🚌 in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He said “Hey Faggot, where you headed?” And then bust out with the biggest smile and laugh, 😆 we were inseparable for years even through homelessness. He had been trafficked at 14 by an adult friend of his families who got deep inside his head.

Thinking a lot tonight about my friend who passed from an AIDS related condition 13 years ago tonight. Growing up queer & trans was hard AF in the 90s. He never tested positive, never sought medical care, and received his diagnosis in the hospital just before passing in 2011.
