Worth noting that one of the few ways the scale of data center investment makes sense is that all that compute power is required if your goal is to harvest and process every single digital bit about every single person's behavior 24/7 to find patterns, make models, and implement control.

Trumpism is like climate change: it's already here, it has done irreparable damage, and even if we take action now we'll be dealing with it's impact for the rest of our lives.

Trump is all about loyalty, and Kean has been very loyal in helping him gut healthcare, raise gas prices, and profit from corruption. So now he's rewarding Kean with $3 million. A vote for Kean is a vote for more high prices and corruption. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/15/u...

The argument against AI should always start with the THEFT of creative labor the technology was built on. The intent was CRIMINAL. CEOs should be facing charges, not class action lawsuits. The devastation these companies continue to inflict on creative communities demands accountability.

Let me tell you a story about how top-end menswear retail transformed over the last hundred years. 🧵
Fiorinamarietta on Threads writes: "The death of department stores as an EXPERIENCE needs to be studied. You used to be able to buy a dress, have lunch, get your hair done, smell every perfume in existence and leave carrying beautifully wrapped boxes. Shopping used to be an event."

i have been saying this for years, but one thing politicians and journalists don't understand (or pretend not to) is that people don't have to be concerned with "gaza" as some sort of niche political cause to have reacted in horror watching the events and the way the political-media class reacted

If politicians really want to “save childhood,” they can start by ensuring every child has three meals a day, a safe place to sleep, and safe access to education. Banning social media does nothing to help kids who don’t have basic resources.

Erasing everything the Trump administration has done is a necessary start. But while we are at it, there was plenty of greed, cruelty, and corruption functioning and condoned in the system before Trump that also needs to be eliminated. American society can be made much much better for all of us.

Our society runs on four assumptions: 1. men are better than women 2. the rich are better than others 3. white people are better than others 4. Christians are better than others. When we fight those assumptions, we are fighting a large part of our society's structure. We must keep fighting.

Aren't those things (recession/depression, widespread starvation, war) already baked in to the inevitable climate change? The Strait staying closed will mitigate the effects of the carbon dioxide disaster at least a little, while it also accelerates the horrible outcomes.

Krugman today Krugman talks about "classic right-wing policies, cutting taxes on the rich and benefits for the poor and middle class." To avoid right-wing framing, we could say: "increasing benefits for the rich while eliminating services for everyone else".
