A Murder of Detectives may be a village murder mystery, but it’s deffo not cosy. Sooooo glad I can finally shout about the fact my new book will be out next year with Bonnier in the UK, in the US with Harper Collins, and others elsewhere! Hugely excited for people to visit Combe Wyndham!

I’m back because I finished this book, got my edits back, and am knee deep in those. I love this one.

Saw Weezer last night in the centre of my grim little northern hometown, a week after Deftones played the same venue, where I saw Korn last year, with Limp Bizkit and playing the year before, among others! 15 yr old me would never believe The Piece Hall would become the best music venue in the UK!

Right. Staring at blank pages in Word again. Six months to fill them all, hopefully with decent words. The imposter syndrome is strong, but I have a brew and a double Snickers. Let’s go!

A friend told me to write letters to the people I hate, and then burn them. But what should I do with the letters?

We do but try having some tact and empathy, it’s still upsetting to see my books referred to as that.

Just watched Deep Cover on Prime. Absolutely loved it. Orland Bloom is hilarious. I love how unseriously some actors take themselves when they hit middle age and do fun stuff.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on. slate.com/technology/2...

Okay! Here's the new MP letter template to push back on the trans-exclusionary Code the EHRC are trying to bring in. I'm timing this letter to bolster the @transsolidarity.bsky.social Mass Lobby Day (next Wednesday), creating a swell of protest before, during & after. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Where I come from ‘Moor’ has two syllables. My wife is constantly berating me for saying this around the kids, despite: A) her not being local, and B) us all living… where I came from.

And this is why I’m torn on the unelected House of Lords. On one hand - unelected, life peers goes against my beliefs. On the other, they’re far less swayed by the politics of the day, and party games. They do sometimes tend to guard against populism pretty well.

Ah what an amazing thread! My dad wasn’t much of a reader so sadly I missed out on this. I don’t know where I discovered many of my passions! Our shelves had a couple of books and then reference books - but thankfully, lots on the unexplained and phenomena! What awesome covers.

😮 wowsers! Louby was working as a probation officer during that time, just not senior. But she’d be able to get others to help too, I’m sure.

My partner has worked in probation for almost 20 years and would be happy to help if she can, but only qualified in a more senior probation officer role in 2014. But paging @mariwriter.bsky.social who may have been in role at that time!
