David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 17/09/2026If you’re trying to figure out how it would translate to a major league park, I think you’re really treading into MLE territory, and may as well just do a full projection. 010
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 17/09/2026The park factors are going to be relative to league, not MLB. 110
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 17/09/2026We do league and park adjust minor league wRC+. Looks like we have Prince George's Stadium with a ~114 runs park factor. R/PA is quite high this year, so Eastern League wRC+ is going to be depressed quite a bit compared to what you might consider a high wOBA. 130
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 13/09/2026That definitely looks like season to date mode, which is very different than the projection models. 110

David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 02/02/2026There's definitely some over projection in the 125-175 range, but I don't think it's that crazy. 200
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 02/02/2026I'm not saying there isn't a better way, but since this is a closed system, it's going to matter less since it's internally consistent. Like, if I over project wOBA in a projection system by 20% for everyone and then run projected standings off that system, it's not going to change much. 000
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 02/02/2026And it will just compress things. Team depth is hard to simulate, but we tried this very thing: blogs.fangraphs.com/an-even-newe...blogs.fangraphs.comAn Even Newer Way of Looking at DepthLet’s revisit our method for measuring each team’s ability to withstand injury. 100
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 02/02/2026This was the actual breakdown last year of projected PA vs actual PA buckets. When you're doing this, you're going to overshoot some bucket, I would think, because you can't predict injuries. You can just give everyone a bit less playing time, but the end result is going to look similar. 200
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 02/02/2026The actual percentages are listed here: www.fangraphs.com/teams/blue-j... for instance. Someone could come up with their own method of turning these into PA / IP if they wanted and then prorate whatever projection system they choose. 100
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 02/02/2026They're the same. We just take the percentages and turn them into plate appearances. Also, each projection system doesn't use the same playing time projections. Any of the "Depth Chart" projections use our projections, along with OOPSY, but Steamer, ATC, ZiPS, and THE BAT/X use different ones. 000
David Appelman @dkappelman.fangraphs.com · 02/02/2026The playing time projections are done specifically with the projected standings in mind, even if there is over projection on the back end. They're done via playing time percentages, not plate appearances so we're sure not to over projecting any team or position. 101
