we fucking loved it, even when there was basically nothing on it, and let me tell you something else: we loved it because of human connection, human diversity, human creativity. WE DON'T NEED A SINGLE THING ANY OF THESE COMEMIERDAS HAVE MADE AND TRIED TO SELL US IN ORDER TO HAVE A GREAT INTERNET.

Every AI/HCI paper I review now just sounds like this.
Research [25] shows that people [26] enjoy the feeling of winning games [3,5,19]. Enjoying things can lead to longer life expectancy [2], higher economic productivity [9,22,33-40,302] and improve mental health [9]. Yet many games still include losing players [67,4]. A recent study showed that less than half of the players in a Chess [1] match win on average [42]. We have developed an LLM-driven co-creative [66], user-led [11], mixed-initiative [80] assistant for Chess [2], through which players can redefine the rules of Chess [3] using generative AI prompting such that they are the winner of Chess [4]. A study (n=3) showed that 100\% of people felt better, healthier and more self-actualised after using our tool, showing that this may be the way forward for games and human culture more broadly in the future.

Wow! My second year royalty check (a physics software project) was nearly twice the first year's check: an amazing $4.02, as I recall.

It's been on my "to do" list for a while. Your post reminded me it was there! I was basically unable to get the cover to twist off. Today I found a video suggesting using a piece of tape to increase friction, and it popped off.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense just stated that—so far—the war with Iran has cost $37.5 billion dollars. That's since February. That same amount is how much the United States spent on planetary science from FY2013 through FY2026 inclusive. Thirteen years of planetary science or five months of war.
The Curiosity rover on Mars. At about $2.6 billion, it buys you about ten days of Iran war.

Launch Abort at 6:45 PM EDT (unofficial) First abort after lighting the Raptor engines, scrubbing for the day. Will be looking at the data that caused the abort. There was a quick hold at T-50 seconds, then the count started again. SpaceX is offloading the fuel and will look at the data.

Yeah, it's basically semantics. The mission plan does have a few slots (looked like maybe 2 or 3) for course corrections after the lunar flyby, but those are likely small burns to tune the arrival point. (I probably would have called TLI a lunar targeting burn...but I tend to be too picky on this.)

For this distinction I'm not quite sure where to draw the line. I'm pretty sure (but have not checked - needs an orbital solution) that without the Moon, Artemis would stay "above" the atmosphere and not impact the Pacific Ocean. So do I say "deorbit" before the lunar flyby occurs, or afterwards?

I know I’m being pedantic, but they have not left Earth orbit. Everything here (Artemis, the crew, the Moon) is still gravitationally bound to the vicinity of the Earth!
