I have a quip of many years standing that as a bloke on a narrowboat I smell of red diesel and fish farts . This morning’s Sherlock ( listen again ) he concludes that as the parcel smells faintly of red diesel it’s from a man on a narrowboat.

I’ve had a beard most of my life (1st one at 17 ) but at 66 had to shave it all off in early July as the boat blacking as I crawled under the base plate was a nightmare . Thank fully it’s back and my Peter Gabriel look is restored .

@keith-dover.bsky.social November 7th 1992 I got married at Gretna Green . Arsenal beat Coventry 3-0 and if memory serves correctly went to the top of the league. J went to bed I stayed up for MOTD . So at least one relationship , for all its ups and downs , remains .

I know it’s what M wanted .I’m struggling as a slip on Sat evening at a restaurant led to her life support being turned off yesterday. Someone hopefully will get her heart , it beat with curiosity, vigour , and determination especially re the needs of her daughter. Tonight mine’s a little bruised

Re: kids making noise in libraries. Sure, it can be annoying. But that is one of the prices you pay for having working libraries with employed librarians and kids who grow up to love reading and love libraries. A library as quiet as a fly on a feather duster is a dead library.

One of the aspects of canal / marina life few speak of is how the “ spidey senses” tingle when watching adults failing to observe children near water . Just grabbed a kid as one leg went down the bank into the water through a load of nettles . He is not happy but then again he ain’t drowning
