distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 24/12/2025My sister's battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer has made this a very difficult year. More than 6 months of chemo plus surgery, and while doctors are hopeful, she's still got more chemo and radiation to go. 100

distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 19/04/2025Second question was, if the answer to my first question is yes, then doesn't the deportation to a prison in El Salvador contradicts that reasoning that deportation doesn't deprive a person of life liberty or property and call the whole idea of limiting due process in these cases into question? 010
distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 19/04/2025It's two questions really. First, is it true that the main reason that SCOTUS allows deportation without the full due process of criminal trials is that they ruled deportation was a civil procedure that did not result in the loss of life liberty or property but only repatriation? 100
distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Yes. I'm referring specifically to the Venezuelans sent to El Salvador. It seems to me their imprisonment in El Salvador contradicts the SCOTUS reasoning behind saying full due process isn't required to deport. 100
distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Has SCOTUS ruled that illegals can be deported to foreign prisons and deprived of liberty without trial? 100
distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 18/04/2025Is that true both before and after deportation proceedings? I had read that the SCOTUS allowed deportation without full due process because it was a civil procedure and not a criminal one that could deprive them of life liberty or property, but only result in a return to their home country. 100
distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 17/04/2025The El Salvador deportees is what I'm referring to, btw 000
distantThunder @distantthunder.bsky.social · 17/04/2025@profdfhesq.bsky.social Hi there. I'm not a lawyer, but isn't the reason that SCOTUS allows deportation without full due process like a criminal trial because they ruled it a civil procedure that doesn't deprive them of life liberty or property? And weren't these deportees all deprived of liberty? 210
