Speaking of "biblically accurate" as much as I'm sure people who want that phrase to mean what it actually means, I personally am a big fan of it meaning "excessively greebled and unsettling"

The perspective grid I ended up drawing for this scale brush makes me feel like I'm summoning a fucking demon. Biblically accurate perspective grid.
An abstract drawing of a single diamond overlaid on a circle with hundreds of lines radiating out from the center overlaid on five ellipses in a stack vaguely toward the top of the image overlaid on hundreds of straight up and down lines that align with the rays from the circle. All lines are shades of blue on a tan background.

I should paint him also, I had intended to have both brushes for my more comic lineart type style and also ones more appropriate with detailed shading. Also Roosevelt because last night I took a break from fish scales and did snake scales because why not.

I've realized part of the reason I was struggling to make the scale brush into something actually useful was that I didn't have any drawings to test it on with the first couple passes. Back in December I knew I'd be drawing Parker more, but hadn't yet. Now I have drawings to test them on.

Restarting my fish scale brush project from scratch for the third time. I'm ahab and "I don't want to draw individual scales on Parker" is my white whale

I told my mom about the guy yelling "just the bear necessities" at me and she was just confused and alarmed. She was like "why you??" and I was like I dunno. Come on this one was funny! Don't dwell on how weird it is that this consistently happens to me.

Haha yeah, reminded of the time I saw a comic character criticized for being in her 30s, anxious and still figuring out life because "shouldn't she have this stuff figured out and be calm and in control by now?" like dog, they don't give you a new personality when you turn 30 lol

Child: this character is really old and smart and independent she's 17 Teenager: This character is a cool adult she's 22 20 to 30: there aren't enough 30 year old protagonists actually, she's 35 40 something: Wait this character is clearly a poor lost child of only 19 where are her parents

Being in my 40s and still drawing and writing about many of the same characters I came up with as a teenager or 20-something offers such a funny window into the perceptions I have and have had about age

Got my bike back. Handlebars have been shortened. Psychic bond with my metal horse restored.

Behind the scenes of my last post: I almost described the teddy bear as “giant” until I thought wait no that’s how I describe *my* teddy bear, which looks like a 6’ tall fursuiter. That thing is a mere 4, 4 and a half feet tall, it is merely “large”

Guy walking down the street with a large teddy bear in a fireman carry. He spots me going past on an e-scooter and yells at me “JUST THE BEAR NECESSITIES!”

Yes actually, I DO I want the barely perceptible movements of my body to steer the bike so I feel psychic. Thanks.

I asked the bike shop to cut down the handlebars of the new bike and the guy warned me that shorter handlebars make steering more "twitchy" - my old bike has handlebars even shorter than what I was asking for. Now I understand why steering it felt like the ideomotor effect lmao

I swapped the kickstands on the bikes to get my big ole' twin leg kickstand on the new one, and it made it significantly heavier just because the kickstand itself is so heavy haha. Still overall lighter, but man is that thing heavy.

I find it very funny how making dal ONCE was enough to make me crave it like a nostalgic comfort food like what am I nostalgic for, last week?

Historian (the cat) was so incandescently angry about her wet wipe bath that she howled at my mom and then hissed at the dog for the crime of walking past her. I guess she had to direct her rage somewhere, since none of it was pointed at me, the actual criminal in question.

Reminds me of the wizard I'd see occasionally around Salt Lake - seeing him always made me so happy. The world needs people like this.

Friend gave me her late husband's bicycle, and it's lovely and better than mine, but also having feelings about letting go of my old bike. It's served me well for ten years.

At the store the checker accidentally almost charged me for 150$ worth of green onions. When the manager came over to help void the charge he could see I just found it funny, so he authoritatively said "okay, so what you need to do is go over to the produce section and get 90 more- I'm kidding"

Historian (the cat) has discovered if she sits by the water dish without drinking I will become curious why and discover if the water has debris in it or something. She now consistently uses this to get me to clean the bowl and give fresh water. Can no longer deny she might be a genius.

Someone on tumblr asked if there was a reason her name is Hat (no, not really)
The first of a sequence of three drawings. A little girl in a long dress sitting cross legged on the ground. Her name is Hat. Behind her a large creature is walking into the frame but mostly cropped out. He is shaped a bit like a cow but with a fish like head and neck with gills and patches of human skin. He's wearing a button down shirt and pants. His name is Parker. Hat is saying while smiling and putting her hands to her heart "It's a lovely combination of sounds. I love hearing humans say it"The same characters from the first image. Parker has started kneeling down and bowing his head near Hat who looks at him while fidgeting with her bracelet. He says "in this language "hat" means a garment worn on your head"The same characters as the previous image. Parker is now laying down completely behind where Hat is sitting, with his head resting on the ground looking up at her with a calm neutral expression. Hat looks away from him and waves her hand dismissively at his face. She says "Pff! Words can mean more than one thing"

Based on my entire adult life and the warning signs of various serious ailments, I think I should be able to go to the doctor and just say "I can't draw" and have them react like I threw up blood in front of them.

The hemming and hawing is so funny - on more than one occasion someone asked how I did something, I started typing of the explanation, but then was like fuck this I'm lazy and just sent them the procreate timelapse. That's the easy option haha

Duckduckgo's noai mode has more painfully obviously ai search results in its image search than google. Incredible. Totally useless.

One side was a cold case against the wall with drinks and the other was a boxes of produce. I think the box forcing him to pass me closely was tomatillos. I think it'd be obvious I wasn't looking for tomatillos in the cold case

Probably one of those who’s unreasonably strict about keeping right, like a car. Which I do! But the thing I wanted was on the left, sorry overly rule bound stranger.

If you're wondering what it's like to be raised in a chaotic environment and then reach your 40s it's mostly doing the world's most boring things and then truthfully saying "I've dreamed of this since I was little"

I got a bag that says "first aid" on it and put all my first aid stuff in it so the first time ever I have a proper first aid kit. Weirdly, I really wanted this as a kid (90's edutainment propaganda worked on me I guess) so organizing it was strangely fulfilling.

It's kinda fascinating to return to that mode through the exact opposite problem. Pre-search engine, every useful website was a gem in a sea of nothing. Now it's a gem in a sea of utter nonsense garbage.

Combing through the tags of a tumblr post that asks what everyone's favorite soup is, making a list of soups to make. Can't pass up an opportunity like this in a post-useful-google world.

Writers, if you are against AI, do not put your writing into ANY tool that is itself AI. Not to check grammar, not to "prove" you wrote it yourself. Everything you give them becomes part of their data, even if it's only to "improve their service" or whatever BS they tell you.

My decision to make OC playlists for next years art fight is mostly focused on Hat and Parker because they're who I'm currently writing about. Extremely funny to me that the progress on that is: Hat: an Alan Watts lecture set to music Parker: song that starts "abandon me, death in my veins"

My tooth isn't hurting right now but hurt a LOT when I first woke up today. I'm worried something about laying down or sleeping or something I'm doing while sleeping triggers the pain and it's making me reluctant to go to bed...

I successfully secured a dentist appointment an entire week earlier. Now I have to decide if I keep calling them anyway to see if I can get something even earlier - if I do that it will be in a couple days, obviously.

Can't promise this one's what you're after, since my goal was to trigger a 60 year old memory of the dish haha, but this is the recipe I followed with a couple small substitutions (can of rotel instead of the chili and tomato for example) www.teaforturmeric.com/masoor-dal/

My Go-To Masoor Dal Recipe (Red Lentil Dal)
Making masoor dal (authentic red lentil curry) at home is SO much easier than you think. This is a favorite recipe that's loved by everyone who tries it.

A while ago my mom asked me to try making something closer to actual Indian dal instead of my usual lentil soup recipe so I did that today - it's very different! I'd describe the flavor profile as... cozy.

Definitely a true winter - with characters with non-human palettes, I like to find their colors in the seasonal palette for the clothing - pink, white, and ice blue are all winter colors, and contrast is also a winter trait. Winter princess :3

Sometimes for my own entertainment I do seasonal analysis on my own characters (seasonal analysis is a method for categorizing people according to palettes that would look good on them, the palettes are named after seasons) anyway the redesign changed Hat from a light summer to a soft autumn

She’s still largely the same, she used to have pale freckled skin on her body rather than the wood/marble look, and her face lacked the lines, and her jewelry was more varied in colors and mostly silver - I drew her the most during my livejournal era

Obviously writing mormonism into fantasy fiction is always an option but also the thought of doing so is mortifying. I'm not LDS myself I just live here so maybe I'm channeling the part of me that has, since childhood, thought, "this place isn't about you it's about that mountain fuck off" lmao

Sometimes I consider including more highlighting of the natural environment in a story, and when I do I am confronted with the eternal question: depict Utah but try to ignore the elephant in the room (mormonism), OR depict somewhere else, but have to research the biome to hell and back
