Heroic work by the FT and the witnesses. Also read it together with @petergeoghegan.bsky.social’s piece from yesterday about how media lawyers have been lobbying Labour to weaken anti-SLAPP legislation. It shouldn’t be costing hundreds of thousands for papers to defend themselves in these suits.

One idea I’ve been circling around is that “slop” is that which is “fully optimized” to its domain to the point of texturelessness or characterlessness. “Slop” in this sense is anything designed to be as easy as possible to produce, sell, and consume, but it’s particularly slop at the point where all or most other players in the same space adopt the same strategies
