There is a lot of food for thought here: understanding tech development in the context of public infrastructure, current asymmetry between public and private, a reluctance to engage around differentiated licensing for reuse and resharing. Themes overwhelmingly absent from convos in the U.S.

DH Awards @dhawards.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
So we opened 2026 nominations early for the #DH2026 conference.
Want to nominate something for DH Awards 2026?
http://dhawards.org/dhawards2026

DH 2 Awards

The annual open Digital Humanities Awards are now accepting nominations for 2026. The DH Awards are a set

of openly-nominated openly-voted annual awards run as a DH awareness raising activity. The awards are nominated and voted for entirely by absolutely anyone. These awards are intended to help put interesting DH resources in the spotlight internationally and engage DH users (and the public) in the work of the DH community. Awards are not specific to geography, language, conference, organization or field of humanities.

Note: There is no financial prize. Self-nominations are encouraged. Resources only needs to be nominated once. The only tests are: Is it loosely DH, can voters get to it, has it launched or had an update in 2026, and is it in the right category.

Nominations are open until 2026-12-31.

Open source speech to text transformers have been a force multiplier for making our av materials more accessible. Just a few years ago, we estimated needing 14,400~ hours for transcribing approx 600 videos in the Drucker Archive. Today, that number (with qc) is more like 210.
