FUN FACT If we switched to all renewable energy, the number of ships crossing the ocean would fall almost in half, slashing global CO2 emissions. Because those ships are JUST carrying coal, oil and gas. ~ Bill McKibben SUPPORT ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES!

Which will make all shipping (and other transport modes) vulnerable As noted wings fold and make ship same as non-wind vis a vis risk profile Our job is to reduce emissions as fast as possible to have some hope of some climate stabilisation

Nice, nicer if it reminds the growing global merchant fleet, and the rest of us, that wind moves ships! Proven 21st century retrofit wingsails reduce emissions and improve resilience in a volatile fuelled world but an industry co-dependent on oil, hidden offshore goes under the radar.

Beginning of the year we had 335 members. This has increased a whopping 85% . We are bowled over by the number of people stepping up and willing to get involved, many of whom are young and keen to instigate a change of direction in the UK towards one of hope, compassion and inclusivity.

Parallels among feminism, cycling, urbanism, etc...

via original poster Mohamad Safa (not on Bsky yet, apparently):

"Overheard: Being a woman is kind of like being a cyclist in a city where all the cars represent men. You're supposed to be able to share the road equally with cars, but that's not how it works. The roads are built for cars and you spend a great deal of physical and mental energy being defensive and trying not to get hurt. Some of the cars want you to get hurt; they think you don't have any place on the road at all. And if you do get hurt by a car, everyone makes excuses that it's your fault."
