The psychology job market may be showing some early signs of regaining strength, relative to last year. A week ago last year, fewer than 200 jobs had been listed - today, it is nearly 300, a figure we didn't hit till early October in '25. #psychjobs #neurojobs #academicjobs

Attaching third-party fact-checks to false news reduces both belief and sharing. But do people want to see this context? In a new preprint, @jaewkwon.bsky.social and I find that people choose to read fact-checks nearly 80% of the time. 1/9 osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/84d7h

Excited to share this work on moral reframing of climate change, led by @diegoreinero.bsky.social! Against common assumptions, liberals & conservatives often choose the same top moral value. Personalizing messaging to one’s top value works, but misassuming based on partisan assumptions backfires!

In sum, we may be overstating moral differences while overlooking shared values. Rather than assuming what people care about from their politics, tailoring to people's actual values may be a more effective way to bridge divides on politicized issues like climate change.
130
Diego Reinero, Ph.D. @diegoreinero.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
(3) Assuming someone’s top moral value based only on their political ideology backfired among moderates and conservatives. Messages built on the wrong moral value may simply fail to resonate.
110
Diego Reinero, Ph.D. @diegoreinero.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
(2) Personalized moral reframing modestly increased climate outcomes (e.g., climate concern, efficacy beliefs, policy support, action intentions) across the political spectrum. It even increased a behavior: clicks on links to climate-related petitions.
110
Diego Reinero, Ph.D. @diegoreinero.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
Across three experiments (N = 3,455), we found: (1) Contrary to the narrative of moral division, most liberals and conservatives chose the same top moral value: care. Focusing on relative differences overlooks a far more striking commonality.
120
Diego Reinero, Ph.D. @diegoreinero.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
Instead we took a different approach. Rather than assuming people’s moral values from their political ideology, we asked them directly which value mattered most to them—and personalized climate messages accordingly.
110
Diego Reinero, Ph.D. @diegoreinero.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
For example, climate change is one of the most politically polarized issues in the U.S. A common explanation is that liberals and conservatives prioritize fundamentally different moral values. Most moral reframing research starts from this assumption.
120
Diego Reinero, Ph.D. @diegoreinero.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
🚨 New preprint out! 🚨 We’ve spent years assuming liberals and conservatives prioritize fundamentally different moral values—and designing persuasive messages based on that assumption. Our data suggest there's more to the story, and that making that assumption can backfire.

Interesting! Although it actually looks like the proportion of political tweets that a user posts—not their *potential exposure* to toxic tweets by accounts they follow—is the strongest consistent predictor of a user's likelihood of posting BOTH impolite or intolerant tweets.
