Where is the line between, "out of control anxiety disorder," and, "justified paranoia?" Because I sure can't tell. See option 1.

I may very well be wrong, but wasn't part of Rome's fall attributed to overextending its military and reneging on social safety net promises to the veterans and also neglecting social programs within the existing empire?

It's especially important to realize that at a time of water shortages contributing to the wildfires in LA, AI uses an absurd amount of water to keep its datacenters cool.

Killing resources and undervaluing the power of labor. I feel like this is a recurring theme in capitalism, especially on the edge of a technology evolution. The Industrial Revolution wasn't overnight and neither is whatever this will be called. But it's like poetry, it rhymes

These extraordinary photos of the LA fires have been shared widely on social media, often without crediting the photographer. These are all the work of Ethan Swope, an LA-based photojournalist working for AP. You can follow his remarkable reporting here👇 www.instagram.com/ethanswopeph...

A street is orange from flames and you can see the high winds in the palm trees. Sparks fly down the street

A fire truck is engulfed in parks and flames are seen on the hill. The entire photo is red and orange from the fire

A fireman with a hose runs across the front of a house in flames in the background

The inside of a house is a ball of flames. The only visible thing inside is a burning Christmas tree

Climate change is a huge problem and everyone should do what they can but I strongly believe blaming individuals instead of corporations is a corporate tactic to obscure the key causes, create personal guilt, and discourage people from organizing for real progress.

So I got in a thing in the mail from the actual CDC asking me to participate in a survey about our family and even tho I could get $60, (not guaranteed, but desperately useful) I feel like if I participate I'm pointing a gun at my own family's head because they'll know where to find us now...

all art is made from spite or horniness, and a computer cannot be spiteful or horny, so a computer should never make art

Hot take: Everyone should work 6 months in a restaurant and six months in a high acuity medical setting and that would fix us as a society.
