In my opinion, it retains the humour a little bit. You still have the quirky mercs but it's just updated to 90s nonsense instead of the 80s. The game is definitely not the same but it plays like the older game and is a decent follow up. Plus the devs added free updates like a level editor.

I think i said in my quote last as well but the creases don't look right. I can see how the body proportions might be modelled on actual people, but there's still a change in proportions of the character with the same bg I think it's easy to miss this stuff in the 10 seconds of viewtime

That is no way a realistic figure for a person. The proportions are overblown and inconsistent. The mannerisms are also uncanny Valley in the sense that they are too 'clean'. No nervous energy.

They both had their strong points. I played Icewind Dale 2 first and the freedom to create 6 party members and then just throw them into the goblin raid was excellent freedom of choice. BG2's focus on story was exactly the opposite, but what a great story that rests just behind the game.

I think 5e definitely doesn't resolve fast enough. Aside from roll d20 plus modifier plus proficiency, a dice roll either leads to another dice roll or leads to a lookup session/rulings. Usually the stuff that happens after the roll falls to GM arbitration. Its primarily what bogs it down.

I don't think they are looking for permission.
