I've bet on Google for years. What I see now is a company moving at Microsoft speed: renting its chips to its rivals, building AI around the results page that pays for everything. Google will do fine. So did Microsoft. Ask Bing. theinference.io/p/nothing-is...

Mac today, Windows soon. It's a working product and we want it broken. 🙈 ⚠️ One request: when a model says something about your brand that isn't on your site, in your PR or anywhere you can find, tell me. That's the layer we actually care about.
100
Pedro Dias ⚡️ @dias.social · 10/09/2026
5️⃣ Tracking is the cheap part, which is why it's free. What a model retrieves about you today is one layer. What it already learned and carries in its weights is the other, and changing that is the only thing geoSurge actually sells.
100
Pedro Dias ⚡️ @dias.social · 10/09/2026
4️⃣ It's still a sample. One answer is a lottery ticket. Ten answers are ten lottery tickets. Read it that way and it's (statistically?) useful; read it as a ranking and you're back to crayon.
100
Pedro Dias ⚡️ @dias.social · 10/09/2026
3️⃣ It tracks per model. Most paid options scrape the consumer interface, so what ends on the dashboard is a logo, which does a lot of work standing in for a model, a session and an audience at once. Here you know which model produced the answer, which is the minimum you need before you can ask why.
100
Pedro Dias ⚡️ @dias.social · 10/09/2026
2️⃣ It runs on the ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini subscription you already pay for. No vendor API bill, no markup, and no reason for anyone to keep the number interesting.
100
Pedro Dias ⚡️ @dias.social · 10/09/2026
1️⃣ It's free. Which kills the half of my complaint that were about incentives. A number that only has to fluctuate enough to justify a subscription doesn't need to mean anything. A free number gets to be exactly as useful as it is.

🗣️ Last time I complained about prompt tracking, I wrote that the tools were selling bullshit with a confidence interval drawn in crayon. Today geoSurge (my employer) launched one on Product Hunt 👺 -- link below. So, go comment/review 🙏🏻. Some notes:

The groundwork doesn't change; the surfaces it has to satisfy do. Today's piece covers those mechanics, carries a disclosure, and applies my own sourcing rules to my new employer's research. That's the standard coming with me.More as it takes shape. Piece in the reply.

Pedro Dias ⚡️ @dias.social · 19/08/2026
My read hasn't changed, and there's a year of "The Inference" on the record to check it against. Most of the noise in this space comes from misreading the mechanics. Solid technical SEO is still the foundation everything else stands on.

Pedro Dias ⚡️ @dias.social · 19/08/2026
Twenty years of technical SEO taught me how systems crawl, render, store and surface information. What pulled me in is where that information ends up living now: inside LLMs, as memory formed at training time, and what actually shapes it.

News: I've joined geoSurge as Founding SEO Lead, on the product side. When I vagueposted on X back in May, I deliberately didn't name the company. It was geoSurge. I kept the name to myself until I was certain the approach held up. It did… to the point where I signed.

The closer you get to the model, the less confident you have to be. The further out you sit, the more you can charge for certainty.

Absolutely. One of the reasons that, once I get past the "SEO gimmicks" conversations, I start to introduce people to Information Architecture, Web Accessibility, Usability and the whole umbrella of UX. There are so many foundational areas that explain most of what is superficially discussed in SEO

"Ensures AI engines can parse and connect your content." That's the SaaS pitch for 'Technical GEO.' Schema. Structured data. Clean architecture. Ensures. LLMs were built to read unstructured language. There's nothing to ensure. Read on The Inference: theinference.io/p/the-whole-...
