Diana came to our building last night & spoke to each resident she could individually providing early voting information, answer questions & solicit feedback, circling back & say bye by name to those she'd met before on previous visits. Friends in Kensington had similar experiences. She's a Real One

We need politicians across the country who believe we can end chronic homelessness. That’s what I’m committed to work towards — learning from places like Manitoba.

As a city councillor and daily transit user, I will work to make TTC safe & reliable. I’ve been a transit enthusiast for a long time. I consulted on MiWay when I was a high school student. I helped advocate for the King Streetcar pilot (see spacing article). Support our campaign: voteyoon.ca/donate

We made it: Rosedale and Summerhill! 🌳🌹 And special shout out to my friend and urbanist Cody who walked Kipling to Kennedy this summer, giving me the idea for this walk. He had many fun facts about the TTC for us, and it was great to walk by 10 stations (if we include Museum which we waved at).

St. George, Bay, Bloor Yonge! We spoke about the importance of protecting our bike lanes and making our transit system safer like with platform edge doors (which we can’t half-ass with metal fences). At City Hall, we need safety for transit riders, pedestrians, drivers, and cyclists.

Our #TTC streetcar network needs help. Dedicated traffic signals at stations like Bathurst and Spadina would help speed them up. As the city councillor, I am committed to accelerating our extremely slow transit network — tackling issues like slow zones. Frequent service will increase ridership.

Learned about how Christie station’s escalator has stairs because it would dig into the tunnel. 🤦

Safe, reliable transit is a key pillar of my city council campaign. So we organized a TTC Walk Line 1 and 2 in University-Rosedale! 🚇 Thanks @rmtransit.bsky.social for joining us and sharing your expertise on how to modernize and improve Toronto’s transit system. First stop: Ossington station!

Don’t forget about your local council race. Mayoral politics get all the (limited) oxygen but a councillor can affect your neighbourhood even more. Do they want to solve city wide problems but opt their ward out of the solutions? We’ve got a few of those. My @thestar.com column this week.

Shawn Micallef: Toronto election: Here’s why you should pay attention to your local council race
In an election year Toronto’s differences are smoothed out and can be overlooked by mayoral candidates who need to deliver uncomplicated ideas, to the whole city, as quickly as possible.

The way to deal with billionaires is to not create them in tje first place. Shop co-op. You own the capital , you own the profit. Surplus values ought to belong to members, workers, not Bay Street

Did you know I negotiated with the federal government to secure $1.5 billion for new co-op homes? I know how to get affordable housing built and I want to bring that experience to Toronto City Hall. On Oct 26, vote Yoon. 🗳️ www.instagram.com/reel/DcEl8uF...

Happy to speak out against the Provincial land grab of Toronto’s waterfront and rollbacks to climate policies. As your next city councillor, I will always put people before profit, protect tenant rights, and work to ensure a liveable Ontario where people can thrive.

AI data centres are large facilities packed with power-hungry computers...and they’re expanding rapidly across Toronto and Ontario. 🏭 Two sites are up for City Council review on July 29: Microsoft (48 Lowe’s Place in Etobicoke) and STACK Infrastructure (3650 Danforth Ave in Scarborough).
