Counterpoint: Tech innovation isn't happening thanks to corporations anymore. More innovation is happening from independent or government sponsored research (tysm NLNet) than anything large companies can bring to bear — and it is just large companies now. Small ones might as well not exist.

There's really just no good reason to have a camera on them! Maybe on the inside for eye tracking?? But that's also pretty weird, and at least the creepy there is obvious to the wearer, and they are the only ones that need to worry about it! Cameras just increase the data and energy usage.

See, all the use cases I would want from a display on your face are pretty great, but they don't need a camera, and with those electromyography sensors I dont see any need for sensors other than that, an IMU, and maybe a light intensity sensor. Air quality and flashlights if you want to get wild.
