Thank you! I think a development structure like this would be good for the game, so I'm happy to see it make sense to others. And the fall of Galaxy City was not the most popular idea for sure. I always had very mixed feelings about it.

A change in framing how the city looks & feels then leads into ideas for how new stories fit those areas. It leads to expansion that is natural & organic, to enhance what is already familiar to everyone who's played the game over the last 22+ years, & make it shiny (or dirty) & new.

Little things like that add up, & you spread them across zones to tie into each other tonally that way. If you want to go one step further, adjust the day/night cycle for longer days in the shiny zones & longer nights in the darker zones. Not fully day vs night like in DCUO, but enough to feel it.

If you've played on Homecoming, you've actually seen a glimpse of this. Kings Row is seedier than it was in the retail days, partly because I made a quiet decision that anytime a bug fix for that map was needed, I was also adding more graffiti & trash. There's even graffiti on the AE building now.

Skyway City, with overpasses & shadowy lower levels is a flows into the docks & warehouses normally attributed to organized crime in Independence Port. Similarly, Brickstown, with Zigursky Prison & a network of underpasses, tunnels, and hidden access doors, fits into the same mold as Skyway and IP.

Steel Canyon, a bright and shiny commercial center, fits with Talos Island which includes a bright and sunny seaside beach area. The historic suburbs & academia in Founders Falls lend themselves to a lighter, brighter tone like we see in Steel and Talos.

The brighter content and tone would be in Steel Canyon, Talos Island, and Founders Falls. Darker, seedier zones would be Perez Park, Skyway City, Independence Port, and Brickstown. Thematically and visually these zones fit together.

Divide Paragon City zones into groups that are either lighter or darker tone. So one set of zones that should be bright & shiny, and one set of zones that are darker & seedier. It's like Metropolis vs Gotham. Now you have a general direction for what to do as each zone is gets additional content.

Atlas Park & Kings Row are very different in terms of tone, for example, and they're the first two zones you go through. I think this could be further expanded and enhanced as you level up. Each level range has two or more zones available, so lets take advantage of that.

It doesn't make sweeping changes like the Liberty City of another Earth in the multiverse would. It would largely be centered around revamping blue side to have two thematic paths from 10(ish)-40(ish), with the Hazard Zones filling various themes to fill it out further. (There's a plan for red side)

I mentioned my "Paragon City Revisited" idea a few days ago, but I didn't go into detail about it. I think of all the various projects I've come up with & discussed with two server teams for City of Heroes, this is the one that could really do the most to make the game even more alive.

What I love about @mattferrell.bsky.social videos is that they're rarely as simple as "X is bad because Y is better." His Undecided YT channel breaks down the why and the unknowns yet to be answered. If you're even remotely interested in energy & technology, you should be watching.

At first glance, Liberty City looks like a triumphant jewel of mid-century optimism. An imposing fusion of colonial brick, grand marble facades, & soaring Art Deco architecture. Elevated rails hum over bustling avenues as monumental towers & statues promise a world of prosperity & four-color justice

Another was far more ambitious. A parallel earth centered around a different city. Based on a mix of themes from east coast cities rich in history from the early colonies and beyond, this would be "Liberty City." Think of it as an "Earth 2" which isn't just a ruin like others reached via Portal Corp

A long time ago, I came up with a few different ways to really expand on #CityOfHeroes. One of those was a full revamp of every zone & faction in the game, which I framed in a doc called "Paragon City Revisited." Lots of (mostly) subtle changes to better reflect the comics the game was inspired by

Spent the weekend working on the JARVIS Project & part of it was getting a new SearXNG instance setup to run directly through ProtonVPN for anonymized search aggregation. Also set as default search engine for my Waterfox browser, which is running through a separate VPN instance for privacy.
